Walden Design is a growing landscape design-build company specializing in high-end outdoor living spaces, landscape construction, patios, retaining walls, decks, planting, and complete landscape installations throughout the Grand Rapids area. We are looking for an experienced Landscape Crew Leader who takes pride in doing things the right way. This position is for someone who already knows how to run a jobsite, lead a crew, solve problems, communicate with customers, and produce quality work without needing someone looking over their shoulder all day. If you have experience leading landscape construction crews and you're ready to take ownership of your projects, we'd like to talk to you. What You'll Be Responsible For Lead a crew of landscape professionals and direct daily jobsite activities Take ownership of projects from start to finish Read and understand landscape plans and construction details Layout and install patios, walkways, retaining walls, planting beds, drainage systems, outdoor living spaces, and other landscape construction projects Maintain high standards for craftsmanship, organization, and jobsite cleanliness Make sure projects are built correctly, efficiently, and according to plan Train and develop less-experienced crew members Communicate professionally with homeowners and answer questions on the jobsite Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other crews Identify problems before they become expensive problems Operate and maintain skid steers, mini skid steers, excavators, compactors, saws, and other landscape equipment Keep equipment, trucks, tools, and job sites organized and properly maintained Help estimate labor and materials and provide feedback on production Complete daily job documentation and communicate project progress The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Has 5+ years of landscape construction experience , with proven crew leadership experience preferred Understands landscape construction and takes pride in quality workmanship Can read plans and translate them into a finished project Is comfortable operating construction equipment Can confidently lead a crew of 2-5+ people Is organized and can keep a project moving without constant supervision Has good attention to detail Shows up on time and takes responsibility for getting the job done Can communicate professionally with customers and coworkers Is willing to teach others and hold themselves and their crew accountable Has a valid driver's license and a good driving record Is physically capable of performing landscape construction work Wants to build a career rather than simply punch a clock What Makes Walden Design Different?
