Job Description

Roofer / Roofing Technician — Codex Construction (Fairbanks, AK) Codex Construction is a locally owned residential and light commercial general contractor in Fairbanks, AK. We're hiring a Roofer to join our crew working on shingle and EPDM roofing systems, including structural, ventilation, and insulation improvements. What you'll do: Install and repair asphalt shingle and EPDM roofing systems (minimal metal roofing work) Open up roofing systems to identify and correct structural issues, airflow/ventilation problems, and insulation deficiencies Perform insulation or other necessary repairs and upgrades as part of roofing system work Apply crossover carpentry skills for structural repairs, sheathing, framing, and related work Learn and eventually assist with spray foam insulation application using our company spray foam rig Work safely at heights and in varying weather conditions Communicate professionally with homeowners and coordinate with crew leads What we're looking for: Experience with shingle roofing required; EPDM experience a plus Solid carpentry fundamentals — framing, sheathing, structural repair Willingness to learn spray foam application (training provided) Willingness to complete a respirator fit test for respiratory protection compliance Comfortable working Alaska's variable seasonal schedule — early starts in warmer months, later starts in fall/shoulder seasons to allow frost to melt before roof access, with work continuing until dark as needed Mentally tough, flexible, and adaptable to changing daily schedules and site conditions Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work well as part of a small crew
Pay:
$50/hour to start, transitioning to a performance-based pay structure over time. Pay by square for shingling with bumps for #starts and valleys, etc.
Physical requirements:
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, lift and carry roofing materials, and work in a variety of outdoor conditions including cold, heat, and wind.
Pay:
$50.00 - $65.00 per hour
