Job Description

Harmon Construction Services, LLC is seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to join our Harmon Utility Services division . This is a hands-on field leadership position responsible for directing utility crews and coordinating the daily execution of water, sewer, storm drainage, grading, and related underground utility work . The ideal candidate is an experienced utility professional who can effectively lead a crew, operate equipment when needed, read plans, coordinate daily work, maintain productivity, and ensure work is performed safely and according to project requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise utility crews performing water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, grading, and underground utility installation . Plan and coordinate daily crew activities, manpower, equipment, materials, and production goals. Communicate daily work plans and expectations clearly to Operators, Laborers, and other crew members. Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, utility drawings, grades, elevations, and project requirements. Establish and maintain proper line and grade for utility installations. Coordinate excavation, trenching, pipe installation, structures, backfilling, compaction, and restoration activities. Operate heavy equipment when necessary and provide guidance to Equipment Operators. Monitor crew productivity and identify issues that could affect project schedules. Coordinate material, equipment, and manpower needs with the Superintendent and project team. Complete required daily field documentation and accurately report labor, equipment, quantities, and project progress. Maintain accountability for company tools, equipment, and materials assigned to the crew. Conduct daily safety discussions and ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, trenching/excavation standards, and project-specific safety requirements. Identify field conflicts or changing conditions and communicate them promptly to the Superintendent or Project Manager. Coordinate with inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades in the field as needed. Ensure completed work meets Harmon quality standards and project specifications. Train, mentor, and develop crew members while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professionalism. Qualifications 3-5+ years of underground utility construction experience preferred. Previous experience as a Utility Foreman, Lead Person, Pipe Foreman, or similar field leadership role strongly preferred . Demonstrated experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage installation . Working knowledge of excavation, trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, compaction, and grading. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, specifications, grades, and elevations. Experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, or similar heavy equipment preferred. Strong understanding of underground utility and excavation safety practices. Ability to effectively lead and motivate a field crew while maintaining productivity and accountability. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical construction activities as needed. Valid driver's license required. CDL and applicable safety certifications are a plus. Pay:
$31.45 - $37.87 per hour
