North Country Painters LLC is a growing premium residential and commercial painting contractor serving Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Lewis, Oneida, Herkimer, and surrounding counties of upstate New York. We hold every project to a high standard and we operate as a legitimate, fully insured, properly structured company that takes care of its people. We are expanding and we need a Foreman who can lead from the front.
THE ROLE
We are hiring an experienced Painting Crew Foreman to lead our field operations across residential and commercial projects throughout our service area. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be on the tools when needed and running the show at all times. You answer directly to the owner and you represent North Country Painters on every job site we touch. If you need someone standing over your shoulder to tell you what to do next, this is not the right fit. If you are the person who already knows what needs to happen and makes sure it gets done right, keep reading.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Leading and managing the painting crew on active job sites across residential and commercial projects. Ensuring proper surface preparation on every substrate: wood, metal, masonry, drywall, fiber cement, and previously coated surfaces. Prep is where quality is made or lost and you know that. Operating airless spray equipment professionally. You know how to dial in a rig, control film build, manage overspray, and produce a finish that does not need to be explained. Applying coatings by brush and roller to a finish standard that matches spray work. Cut lines are clean. Edges are sharp. Coverage is complete. Managing job site cleanliness and organization at all times. A North Country Painters job site looks professional from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave. Communicating supply needs, material requirements, and any job site conditions directly to the owner before they become a problem. Reading and following project specifications, product data sheets, and coating submittals. You understand recoat windows, DFT targets, environmental limits, and stop-work conditions. Conducting quality control throughout each phase of the project. You do not wait until the end to catch problems. Enforcing safety standards on site including proper PPE, ladder and lift safety, and overspray containment. Managing crew productivity and holding team members accountable to the same standard you hold yourself. Documenting daily production including environmental conditions, materials used, and any change conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Representing North Country Painters professionally in front of every client, building owner, general contractor, and facility manager you encounter on site.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING
Minimum 5 years of professional painting experience with a strong background in both residential and commercial work. Demonstrated experience operating airless spray equipment on real commercial and residential projects. This is not optional. Strong brush and roller skills producing finish-quality results independently. Proven ability to lead and manage a crew without constant supervision. Experience reading and following coating specifications, product data sheets, and project submittals. Working knowledge of surface preparation standards for multiple substrates. Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation. Professional conduct and appearance on all job sites at all times. Ability to work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
