Lovett Services is seeking an experienced Excavation Foreman to lead field crews and take ownership of excavation and underground utility projects throughout the Portland Metro area. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows excavation, understands underground water and sewer systems, and can confidently lead a crew while working alongside them. You'll oversee projects from jobsite setup and excavation through pipe installation, backfill, cleanup, and completion—keeping safety, quality, productivity, and customer service at the forefront. What You'll Do As an Excavation Foreman, you'll be responsible for safely and efficiently completing excavation and underground utility projects while providing day-to-day leadership to field crews.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and coordinate field crews on excavation and underground utility projects Repair, replace, and install underground water lines, sewer lines, and other piping Install and repair catch basins, pump vaults, and related underground systems Operate excavators and other heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently Excavate holes and trenches to the proper depth, grade, and specifications Read and work from site plans, estimates, utility locates, and written work instructions Assemble and install pipe sections, tubing, fittings, and connections Properly install and secure shoring to maintain a safe excavation environment Backfill excavations and assist with site restoration Haul and coordinate the removal of dirt, rock, debris, and other materials Manage projects according to estimates, site plans, schedules, and company expectations Track crew hours, productivity, and job progress to help control labor costs Communicate project changes, field conditions, and potential issues with project management, estimators, and supervisors Complete required job documentation and paperwork accurately and on time Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite and service vehicle Deliver excellent service to customers, contractors, coworkers, and other project stakeholders Maintain and promote safe work practices at all times What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who combines strong excavation experience with proven field leadership skills and can take ownership of a job from start to finish.
Qualifications include:
