We are seeking dependable and motivated Civil Construction Laborers to join our team in Southern California. Whether you already have civil construction, underground utility, or general labor experience, or are looking to develop your skills in a skilled trade, this is a hands-on opportunity to work with an experienced crew and grow within a fast-paced and reputable company. This position requires travel to various project sites throughout Southern California. Summary The Civil Construction Laborer is responsible for supporting the crew during construction operations. This position assists with underground and aerial utility work, site preparation, material handling, equipment maintenance, and other general construction duties. Responsibilities Assist the crew with underground and aerial utility construction. Support trenching, excavation, conduit installation, backfilling, site preparation, and restoration work. Operate one or more types of underground construction equipment when qualified and authorized. Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, materials, and equipment. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. Report equipment defects or needed repairs to the supervisor. Clean and maintain equipment, tools, vehicles, and work areas. Perform all duties in accordance with company safety and security standards. Follow oral and written instructions from supervisors and crew leaders. Work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers. Travel to various project locations and work sites throughout Southern California. Perform other construction-related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous civil construction, underground utility, telecommunications, or general labor experience preferred. Experience operating underground construction equipment is preferred. Valid driver's license required. Driving record must be approved by CIK's insurance carrier. Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions. Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to learn. Ability to work safely in an active construction environment. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Ability to work days, nights, swing shifts, weekends, overtime, and extended hours as scheduled or required. Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and perform repetitive pushing and pulling. Ability to work around construction equipment, vehicles, dust, dirt, noise, and uneven terrain. Travel to project locations throughout Southern California is required.
