Heavy Civil Laborer- Telecom & EV Stations
Job Description
Position Overview Pacific State Construction & Electric is seeking a reliable and hardworking Heavy Civil Laborer to support our civil construction crews on wireless, underground, and EV charging projects throughout Southern California. This role is hands-on and requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to perform work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment. Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Civil Construction Assist with trenching, excavation, and backfilling using shovels, picks, and powered equipment under supervision. Lay conduit (PVC, HDPE, EMT, Schedule 40/80), pull rope, and assist with underground utility installation. Help build foundations for CMU walls, FRP platforms, equipment slabs, bollards, and grounding systems. Place and tie rebar, set formwork, and assist during concrete pours. Install fencing, bollards, ground rings, pull boxes, and site hardware. Support equipment operators and foremen during bore operations and trench safety setups. Site Preparation & Cleanup Load, unload, and organize materials and tools. Maintain a clean and safe jobsite at all times. Support layout and measurement tasks using tape measures, levels, and lasers. Safety & Compliance Follow all Pacific State and OSHA safety guidelines. Attend daily tailgate meetings and complete required JSAs. Use PPE correctly and report unsafe conditions immediately. Assist with traffic control, spotter duties, and equipment safety when needed. Team Support Work closely with Civil Foremen, Operators, and Electricians. Follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Perform additional tasks as assigned to keep the project on schedule. QualificationsRequired Construction or labor experience (preferably in civil, utility, or telecom). Ability to lift 50-80 lbs repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks. Dependable transportation and valid driver's license. Ability to work overtime, weekends, or out-of-town when required. Ability to work in various weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in trenching, underground utilities, concrete, and/or CMU work Experience operating compaction equipment, rammers, cutoff saws, jackhammers, and other small tools Current certifications including
OSHA 10, RF
Awareness, CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and NWSA Preferred (or willingness to obtain as required) Strong knowledge of jobsite safety practices and procedures Soft Skills Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
