Job Description

Tower Technician IJob Summary The Tower Technician I is an entry-level field position responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of wireless communication systems on cellular towers, rooftops, and related structures. This position works under the direction of experienced Tower Technicians and Crew Leads while developing the skills necessary to safely perform tower climbing, rigging, equipment installation, grounding, and other telecommunications construction activities. Key Responsibilities Assist with the installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of wireless communication equipment on new and existing cellular sites. Assist with antenna, RRU, hybrid cable, coax, jumper, and associated equipment installations. Support new carrier installations, equipment upgrades, tower modifications, and site decommissioning activities. Safely climb and work on towers and structures exceeding 100 feet in height. Assist with tower erection and rigging operations utilizing cranes, manlifts, gin poles, ropes, and other approved equipment. Load, unload, stage, and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites. Assist with grounding systems, conduit installation, foundations, equipment platforms, and basic electrical-related work as required. Perform site preparation, housekeeping, and job-site closeout activities. Learn to read and understand construction drawings, site plans, RFDS documents, and installation specifications. Properly use and maintain company tools, vehicles, equipment, and personal protective equipment. Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA, ANSI, TIA, and NATE safety standards. Participate in daily safety meetings, JHAs/JSSAs, and pre-task planning. Communicate professionally and effectively with crew members, supervisors, project managers, and other project personnel. Perform additional telecommunications construction duties as assigned. Experience & Qualifications Entry-level position; previous tower, telecommunications, electrical, or general construction experience is preferred but not required. Must be willing and able to learn tower climbing, rigging, and telecommunications installation procedures. Ability to pass required background checks and drug screenings. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate hand and power tools. Willingness to learn how to read construction drawings, RFDS documents, and equipment specifications. Familiarity with coax, jumpers, connectors, weatherproofing, antennas, and wireless equipment is preferred but not required. Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a field crew. Physical & Work Requirements Ability and willingness to climb towers and structures exceeding 100 feet. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to perform physically demanding work including climbing, lifting, bending, kneeling, and working for extended periods.
