Construction Laborer Taylor Site DeLand, FL Job Details Full-time $18 - $22 an hour 13 hours ago Benefits Opportunities for advancement Qualifications Safe work practices Teamwork Outdoor work Attention to detail Power tools Hand tools Full Job Description Position Summary The Construction Laborer supports site development and underground utility operations by performing general labor, site preparation, material handling, cleanup, and basic trench and pipe support tasks. This position works under the direction of the foreman, crew leader, or equipment operators to help keep the job moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The role is a hands-on position with opportunities to learn the trade and advance within the crew. Primary Responsibilities Assist with trenching support, pipe handling, and general utility installation tasks. Load, unload, move, and stage materials, tools, and equipment. Perform site cleanup, debris removal, and jobsite maintenance. Assist pipe crews with bedding, backfill, compaction, and grade prep. Support operators and skilled laborers as directed. Set up and maintain safe work areas, barricades, and basic traffic control. Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and jobsite instructions. Learn basic underground utility practices, tools, materials, and measurements. Help with grading, layout support, and hand work as needed. Perform other duties assigned by the foreman or supervisor. Required Qualifications Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying conditions. Ability to follow directions and work as part of a crew. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. Willingness to learn construction methods, tools, and safety procedures. Ability to lift heavy materials and work safely around equipment. Preferred Qualifications Previous construction, excavation, or utility experience. Basic understanding of trench safety, pipe installation, and site grading. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment. OSHA training or other safety certifications, if applicable. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, bend, lift, carry, and work on uneven terrain. Must be able to lift and move materials as required by the job. Must be able to work in heat, cold, dust, mud, and wet conditions. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment. Skills and Traits Team-oriented. Dependable and safety-minded. Willing to learn and take instruction. Good communication and attention to detail. Able to work efficiently under supervision. Advancement Opportunity This position can lead to higher-level roles such as pipe layer, lead laborer, utility operator, or foreman based on performance, attendance, safety record, and skill development.
Pay:
