Job Description

General Laborer Blue Ridge Boat Docks Job Description:
Marine Construction Laborer We are looking for a hardworking, dependable Construction Laborer to join our three-man dock building crew. In this role, you will work directly under the Crew Foreman to assist in the construction, repair, and installation of custom boat docks and piers. This is a physically demanding role that offers the unique opportunity to work outdoors and on the water every day while learning the specialized trade of marine construction.
Key Responsibilities Site Preparation:
Assist in unloading materials (lumber, hardware, pilings) from trucks or trailers and staging them for the build.
Structural Assembly:
Help the Foreman with framing, joist installation, and laying down decking boards.
Tool & Equipment Handling:
Safely operate power tools such as drills, impact drivers, and saws. Maintain a clean and organized job site by managing cords and stowing tools daily.
Manual Labor:
Assist with manual pile driving, digging, and securing anchors. Perform heavy lifting and "brute force" tasks as required by the environment.
Safety Support:
Follow all safety protocols, especially when working on floats or near deep water, and act as a "second set of eyes" for the Foreman during heavy lifts.
Required Skills & Qualifications Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift 80+ lbs repeatedly, swim, and work on your feet in various weather conditions (heat, rain, wind).
Basic Tool Knowledge:
Familiarity with standard construction hand tools and power tools.
Reliability:
You are the "engine" of the three-man crew. Being on time and ready to work is essential to the team's success.
Adaptability:
Comfortable working on moving surfaces (barges/floats) and getting wet or muddy when the job requires it.
Experience:
Prior experience in general construction, landscaping, or roofing is preferred but not required. We are willing to train someone with a great work ethic.
Work Environment The Elements:
You will be outdoors 100% of the time. You should enjoy being on the water and be prepared for the physical nature of marine work.
Team Dynamic:
You will be part of a small, efficient 3-person team where every member's contribution is visible and valued. Must have a valid driver's license. Strong desire and ability to learn new skills and techniques. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
