Construction Laborer / Traveling Technician Job Description This role combines hands-on construction labor with traveling technician responsibilities, supporting a variety of field projects that involve material handling, excavation, and underground utility work. You perform general manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials, while assisting with hydro-excavation, storm and sewer line cleaning, and pipe jetting. You work both independently and as an active member of a team, and you may be assigned miscellaneous related duties and special projects as needed. Responsibilities Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving construction materials and equipment. Assist with hydro-excavation activities in the field, following established safety and operational procedures. Support storm and sewer line cleaning operations, including setup, operation, and cleanup of equipment. Assist with pipe jetting tasks to maintain and clear underground utility lines. Participate in pipe laying and excavation work as directed by project leads. Travel to various project sites, often outside the local area, and adapt to changing locations and conditions. Carry out miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned to support field operations. Work independently when required, taking initiative to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently. Collaborate effectively as an active member of a team, communicating clearly and supporting coworkers. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while working outdoors and around heavy equipment. Essential Skills Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, squatting, and lifting at least 80 pounds. Experience or familiarity with general construction labor tasks. Ability to assist with field service activities such as excavation, pipe laying, and hydrovac operations. Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor field conditions. Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends. Ability to travel regularly, with most projects located outside the immediate local area. Strong reliability and alignment with a collaborative, safety-focused company culture. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction or general labor in outdoor environments. Background in field service work involving underground utilities or excavation. Comfort working with hydrovac and excavation equipment under supervision. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
