248-628-1180 Overview Join our team as a Sanitation Worker - Trash Collector and become a vital part of a family-owned business responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and healthy communities! In this essential public service role, you will work with a great, small team on a waste collection truck servicing the cities of Dryden, Addison Township, Romeo, Oakland Township, and Oxford, collecting and transporting solid waste and recyclables. This position is year-round, and extremely stable, with holidays off! It requires work in the outdoors in dynamic weather conditions, heavy lifting, and a great team-oriented disposition. Opportunities for additional compensation are regularly available with knowledge of mechanical repair, and willingness to work additional hours. Responsibilities Safely operate on commercial waste collection truck while adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) and state transportation regulations. Load and unload trash and recyclable materials efficiently. Follow traffic laws and safety protocols diligently on route to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues and the public. Conduct routine inspections of trucks for mechanical issues or hazards; perform basic maintenance or report repairs needed (additional compensation). Collect waste from designated residential, commercial, or municipal sites along assigned routes while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Ensure compliance with hazardous materials regulations when handling special waste streams. Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, route completion times, and incident reports as required by safety protocols. Load & unload materials at disposal sites using appropriate equipment, as needed. Extreme reliability - shifts are M-Th, and begin at 6am, departing from Dryden, MI. Experience Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and mechanical systems related to garbage trucks and related equipment. Familiarity with traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations; safety protocol adherence is essential. Prior experience with route driving for delivery or waste collection services is highly desirable. Outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions to ensure safety and efficiency on the job site. This role will begin August 1st, or sooner, and pays $750/week (straight pay - contractor) for four days of work. Shifts start M-Th, at 6am, and run until complete for the day.
