HIGHWAY SUMMER LABORERS / HIGHWAY DEPT

This is a temporary, as-needed position working May through August 2026 JOB

DESCRIPTION

Performs general manual labor or grounds maintenance for County Departments needing full-time summer help. Performs manual labor such as; cutting grass, removing debris and weeds, trimming trees, painting, repairing asphalt roads, shoveling and digging. Assists by carrying or holding materials, supplies and tools, flagman, placing concrete, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Requires the ability to carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, and work in adverse weather conditions. Must have and maintain a valid Driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Requires knowledge of safety rules and regulations. Working skill in operating lawn mowers and other grounds upkeep equipment. Ability to cooperate with supervisors and co-workers, follow instructions and carry out assignments with minimal supervision. Requires stable education and work history. Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.

Minimum age:

18 years old This is a part-time position not to exceed 1200 total yearly hours. There are no benefits included with the position. Hours and shifts may vary.
