Job Description

St. Charles Adult & Community Education is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and engaging Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician Instructor to join our team. This part-time opportunity is ideal for a healthcare professional passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing adult learners for rewarding careers in healthcare. These courses are part-time in nature and offered based on meeting student enrollment minimums. The instructor will work under the general supervision of the Adult and Community Education Assistant Director. St. Charles School District employees must complete a background check and participate in an annual online safety training.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare students for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) CET certification exam Deliver comprehensive classroom and lab instruction on EKG procedures, interpretation, and related clinical skills Develop and update curriculum aligned with current healthcare standards and best practices Support students through coaching, mentoring, and encouragement Evaluate student competencies and maintain records Promote professionalism, patient care, and workplace readiness
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong understanding of cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, lead placement, and related medical terminology Knowledge of anatomy and patient care practices Familiarity with adult learning principles and effective instructional strategies Experience with classroom management and student engagement techniques Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse adult learners Knowledge of current National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification standards, testing practices, and learning objectives
Qualifications:
EKG Technician credential or related healthcare certification Minimum two (2) years of recent clinical experience performing EKG procedures or cardiac monitoring Proven experience teaching EKG technology or related healthcare courses preferred Strong communication, organizational, instructional, and interpersonal skills
