  • Harmans, Maryland Position Summary Lighting Maintenance Inc.
(LMI) is seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction Laborer to support our Construction Department based out of Harmans, Maryland. This is a hands-on field position supporting electrical construction crews on commercial, municipal, roadway, and outdoor lighting projects. Our construction work includes site lighting, parking lot lighting, sports lighting, roadway lighting, underground electrical installation, trenching, conduit installation, pole bases, and related electrical infrastructure. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining construction experience and potentially growing into an electrical trade or apprenticeship career. Responsibilities Assist electricians, foremen, and construction crews with daily field activities. Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment. Assist with trenching, digging, excavation, and backfilling. Help install conduit, underground electrical materials, pole bases, and related equipment under the direction of qualified electricians. Assist with setting up and breaking down job sites. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Perform basic hand digging and operate hand and power tools as trained and authorized. Assist with measuring, staging, and preparing materials for installation. Help maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment. Follow instructions from foremen, electricians, project managers, and supervisors. Follow all LMI safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite procedures. Wear required PPE and participate in daily safety meetings or toolbox talks. Perform other construction-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous construction, electrical, utility, landscaping, concrete, excavation, or general labor experience is preferred but not required. Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding work. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew. Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Ability to pass required pre-employment screening. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Regularly lift and carry construction materials and equipment. Perform repetitive lifting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and digging. Stand and walk for extended periods. Work on uneven terrain and active construction sites. Work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and other changing weather conditions. Safely perform physical labor throughout the workday.
