Solar General Laborer Job Description This role supports active utility-scale solar projects in Ohio by performing general labor tasks related to solar installation and site support. You will work on a 7 MW solar site alongside a small, dedicated internal team, helping move materials, assist with conduit work, and support safe, efficient project execution in accordance with OSHA regulations. Responsibilities Support solar installation activities on active project sites in Ohio, including work at locations such as Kenton and Upper Sandusky. Move conduit and other materials around the site to ensure crews have what they need to complete installation work. Install straps and hangers as directed to support conduit and other solar infrastructure. Use basic hand tools safely and effectively, such as channel locks, hammers, and screwdrivers, to complete assigned tasks. Follow OSHA regulations and all site safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment. Participate in labor orientation training and comply with all safety and operational procedures learned during training. Read and use a tape measure accurately to support layout, measurement, and installation tasks. Work a 4x10 schedule, completing assigned tasks efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards. Collaborate with site supervisors and team members to prioritize work at the most critical project locations. Maintain a clean, organized work area and help ensure that tools and materials are stored safely. Communicate clearly in English with team members and supervisors to understand instructions and report issues. Demonstrate reliability and strong work ethic, with the potential to be mobilized to additional project sites based on performance. Essential Skills Proven experience in solar general labor or closely related construction labor work. Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively, including channel locks, hammers, screwdrivers, and similar tools. Strong understanding of and adherence to OSHA regulations on construction and solar project sites. OSHA 10 certification (must have). Completion of labor orientation training or willingness and ability to complete required site labor orientation. Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately. Ability to work a 4x10 schedule and perform physically demanding tasks outdoors on a solar project site. Ability to communicate clearly in English to follow instructions and safety guidelines. Residence in Ohio, with ability to work on in-state solar project sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on solar projects, including familiarity with racking, conduit, and related components. Possession of a basic "grab bag" of hand tools (such as channel locks, hammers, screwdrivers) is helpful but not required. Comfort working on large-scale energy or construction sites and adapting to changing project priorities. Basic hardhat is sufficient; no Type II hardhat requirement. No scissor lift training required for this role. Personal protective equipment required includes hardhat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots; additional PPE can be provided on site if needed, aside from boots. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work on a 7 MW solar site in Ohio as part of a small internal team that is stretched across multiple active projects. The environment is an outdoor construction setting where racking is already in place and work focuses on conduit movement, material handling, and support tasks. The schedule follows four 10-hour days each week, with at least two months of guaranteed work and the potential for mobilization to other project sites based on performance. You will use basic hand tools and work around specialized solar equipment, adhering to OSHA standards and site safety rules. Required attire includes a basic hardhat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots, with additional PPE provided on site if needed (excluding boots). The site operates with a strong emphasis on safety, clear communication in English, and collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced but structured construction environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bucyrus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
