We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Fleet Laborer to support our fleet operations. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to gain experience in a maritime and industrial environment. Position Summary The Fleet Laborer performs general manual-labor duties and assists mechanics, tradespeople, and other skilled employees with daily maintenance, repair, and operational activities. Responsibilities include moving materials, loading and unloading equipment, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and completing basic maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable performing physically demanding work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform general manual-labor tasks, including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, and moving materials, tools, parts, and equipment. Assist mechanics, carpenters, electricians, masons, and other skilled employees with assigned projects and repairs. Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery after receiving proper instruction. Load and unload trucks, trailers, and other vehicles with materials and equipment. Set up and prepare work areas, tools, equipment, and materials for assigned projects. Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas. Remove debris, scrap materials, spills, and other potential hazards using appropriate procedures. Perform basic preventive-maintenance and repair tasks as directed. Clean, inspect, and properly store tools and equipment after use. Assist with moving, positioning, assembling, or disassembling equipment and materials. Follow all company safety rules, work procedures, and instructions. Properly use required personal protective equipment. Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, or other safety concerns to a supervisor. Work cooperatively with employees across departments to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently. Perform work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions. Complete other duties and special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications No previous industry experience is required; training will be provided. Willingness and ability to learn new skills and follow instructions. Ability to safely use basic hand tools and power tools or learn how to use them. Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the scheduled shift. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Strong awareness of workplace safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to comply with company safety and drug-free-workplace policies. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, automotive, maritime, warehouse, landscaping, or another labor-intensive environment. Familiarity with basic maintenance or repair work. Experience safely operating forklifts, aerial lifts, or other industrial equipment. OSHA, forklift, rigging, or other relevant safety training. Physical Requirements and Work Environment This is a physically active position performed in shop, yard, dockside, and other operational environments. The Fleet Laborer must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, push, and pull. Regularly lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier objects must be moved with assistance or appropriate equipment. Work on uneven surfaces and in confined or awkward spaces when necessary. Safely climb stairs and ladders. Work indoors and outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and other changing weather conditions. Work around machinery, vehicles, equipment, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and other conditions common to maritime and industrial workplaces. Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, and safety-toe footwear. Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00-$23.00 , depending on the candidate's experience, skills, and overall qualifications.
