Job Summary The Landfill Laborer performs a variety of general labor duties to support the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of a landfill facility. This position involves physical outdoor work, adherence to safety regulations, and assistance with daily landfill operations. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily landfill operations, including waste placement, compaction, and cover activities Direct incoming waste haulers to designated disposal areas Perform litter control by collecting and removing debris from the landfill grounds Inspect waste loads for prohibited or hazardous materials and report violations Operate basic hand tools and equipment (shovels, brooms, compactors, etc.) Perform routine site maintenance, including grading, fencing, and drainage upkeep Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies Assist equipment operators as needed and work around heavy machinery safely Maintain cleanliness of work areas and facilities Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Strong awareness of safety practices Dependable with a strong work ethic Ability to work independently or as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in landfill, construction, or outdoor labor work Knowledge of solid waste regulations and safety procedures Ability to operate light equipment (training provided if needed) Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly Standing, walking, bending, and climbing throughout shifts Exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, dust, and odors Work Environment Outdoor landfill setting Exposure to heavy equipment, weather conditions, and waste materials Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
