Job Description
Summary of Duties:
Under direction, assists in the construction, maintenance, operations, and repair of water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems. Essential Functions of thePosition:
- Assists in the operation, maintenance, and repair of pumping stations and related equipment in the water distribution system (e.g., taps, hydrants, valves);
- Assists with water taps, installation of customer meters, and repairs breaks in water mains and services;
- Assists with routine preventive maintenance inspections of water and wastewater systems;
- Assists in the repair and rebuilding of pumps, motors, and mechanical equipment;
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of catch basins and storm sewers;
- Assists with the operation of Vactor truck for cleaning sewer mains and CCTV truck for video inspection;
- Assists with the disassembly, repair, recalibration, reassembly, and testing water meters;
- Assists with the installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance fire hydrants;
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds;
- Assists in inspecting pumping stations and related equipment in the water distribution and sewer collection systems;
- Assists in noting any operating deficiencies and maintaining pumps, valves, blowers, filters, and other equipment.

Minimum Acceptable Characteristics:
- Operate a computer and/or tablet
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and City GIS
- Skill in grounds maintenance, landscaping, painting, and use of hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret documents, construction plans, and safety rules
- Ability to write, speak effectively, and perform basic math
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to follow directions, get along with others, adhere to safety rules and regulations, maintain a professional appearance, and interaction with the public
