This position assists drivers with loading, unloading, and safely delivering building materials while helping maintain an organized and efficient warehouse and yard environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist drivers with loading and unloading building materials using manual labor, carts, forklifts, and boom cranes. Secure and prepare loads for transportation, including strapping, curtain-side trailer operation, and equipment setup. Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections and vehicle preparation. Evaluate job site conditions to identify safety concerns and assist drivers in addressing obstacles. Act as a spotter during truck maneuvering, backing, and deliveries. Assist in stocking materials and organizing warehouse and yard inventory. Help customers load materials safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with drivers, warehouse staff, and branch personnel to ensure excellent customer service. Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic math and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Previous warehouse, construction, building materials, landscaping, manufacturing, or labor experience. Forklift certification or forklift operating experience. Experience handling drywall, steel studs, insulation, commercial doors, or other building materials. Familiarity with job site safety practices.
