Fabrication Technician Job Description This entry-level role supports the fabrication and finishing of fiberglass structures in a daylight shift environment. You will work in a hands-on production setting using basic hand and power tools to assemble, modify, and prepare fiberglass products for shipment. The position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who have basic experience in production, construction, or manufacturing and are eager to learn and grow in a long-term role. Responsibilities Fabricate and finish fiberglass structures in the fabrication/finishing department according to specifications and work instructions. Pack and crate finished fiberglass products to prepare them for storage or shipment. Drill holes, apply handles, and seal the ends of fiberglass products using appropriate tools and materials. Make accurate angle cuts using a chop saw and ensure cuts meet required measurements and quality standards. Operate and safely use hand tools and power tools, including wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, power drills, nail guns, and chop saws. Measure materials accurately using a tape measure and apply measurements consistently to all fabrication tasks. Perform general labor and assembly duties, including lifting, positioning, and securing materials as needed for production. Assist with machine operation and general production tasks to keep the fabrication area running efficiently. Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a fiberglass environment. Maintain good attendance and reliability to support rotating schedules and continuous plant operations. Keep the work area clean and organized to support a safe and efficient production environment. Participate in on-the-job training to learn new tasks, tools, and processes as required. Essential Skills Ability to pass a tape measure test and demonstrate accurate measurement skills. At least 3 months of experience in production, construction, or manufacturing; side work is acceptable. At least 3 months of experience using hand tools and power tools, including wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, tape measures, hammers, power drills, and nail guns. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and equipment in a hands-on environment. Willingness to perform general labor, assembly, and machine operation tasks in a manufacturing setting. Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating four-days-on, four-days-off schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Reliable attendance and dependability in following assigned schedules. Ability to work safely in a fiberglass environment while following safety guidelines and using required protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfort working in general production, fabrication, and machine operator roles. Experience with general labor tasks such as packing, crating, and basic assembly. Willingness to learn new skills and processes through on-the-job training. Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Entry-level candidates are welcome; requirements are flexible for individuals who can pass the tape measure test and demonstrate strong attendance. Why Work Here? The environment involves working around fiberglass materials, which can feel itchy and have a strong odor, though the facility is described as generally clean. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools such as nail guns, chop saws, drills, and other equipment as part of daily tasks. Steel toe boots are required for safety, and jeans and t-shirts are acceptable attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alum Bank, PA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
