Our programs center bilingual learning, play-based education, family engagement, and supportive relationships that help children and families thrive. We are seeking a Site Supervisor to provide strong instructional, operational, and team leadership at our Sol de Berkeley site. This position is ideal for an experienced early childhood or school-age education leader who is passionate about bilingual education, staff development, compliance, and creating high-quality learning environments for children. The Site Supervisor will serve as the primary on-site leader, working closely with educators, families, the Senior Program Director, and BAHIA's central administration to ensure the program operates safely, effectively, and in alignment with applicable licensing and contract requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Program Oversight Ensure effective implementation of applicable CSPP and CCTR program requirements and regulations. Support and monitor curriculum implementation in English and Spanish, aligned with BAHIA's bilingual, play-based educational model. Collaborate with teaching teams to create environments that promote inquiry, curiosity, and student-centered learning. Oversee DRDP assessments, lesson planning, and instructional practices. Ensure active supervision, appropriate daily routines, student safety, and effective classroom management. Monitor program quality and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 2. Staff Supervision & Professional Development Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and targeted support to instructional staff. Conduct staff performance evaluations and participate in hiring, onboarding, and corrective action processes. Promote a collaborative, professional, and accountable team culture. Lead staff development and training opportunities in partnership with the Senior Program Director. Provide individualized coaching to strengthen teaching practices, leadership skills, and staff performance. Address staff concerns and performance issues promptly and professionally. 3. Family Engagement & Enrollment Collaborate with the Enrollment Coordinator to support enrollment and maintain accurate attendance records. Ensure proper student check-in and check-out procedures are followed. Maintain timely and professional communication with families, including newsletters, program updates, and important announcements. Organize and lead family events, Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, and parent-teacher conferences. Participate in recruitment and community outreach events as needed. Serve as a visible, approachable, and responsive site leader for families and the broader community. 4. Operations & Fiscal Management Oversee classroom coverage, staff schedules, and required staff-to-child ratios. Coordinate with the kitchen team to support proper meal service and compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements. Ensure the facility meets applicable licensing, health, safety, and cleanliness standards. Support site-level procurement and tracking of minor operational expenses. Maintain accurate documentation and provide support for audits, QRIS, CLASS, DRDP, ECERS, and other program reviews. Identify operational concerns and work with administration to resolve issues in a timely manner. 5. Compliance & Licensing Maintain ongoing readiness for licensing visits, contract monitoring, audits, and program reviews. Ensure site practices remain aligned with applicable California licensing and program requirements. Lead or support the implementation of corrective action plans when necessary. Maintain accurate and organized compliance documentation. Communicate compliance concerns to the Senior Program Director and central administration promptly. 6. Leadership & Communication Serve as the primary on-site liaison among educators, families, and BAHIA's central administration. Communicate proactively, professionally, and respectfully, particularly during times of conflict or concern. Model and reinforce professional standards, punctuality, accountability, and ethical conduct. Support staff in maintaining a positive and respectful workplace. Represent BAHIA's mission and values in interactions with children, families, staff, and community partners. Support BAHIA's commitment to culturally responsive, bilingual education and equitable family services. Qualifications Required Associate degree (AA/AS) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field. Current California Child Development Permit - Site Supervisor level or equivalent qualification required by the time of hire. Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, child development, or school-age education, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Fluency in both Spanish and English. Working knowledge of DRDP, CLASS, ECERS, and California early childhood education and licensing requirements. Experience with staff supervision, professional development, performance evaluations, and instructional coaching. Strong understanding of classroom operations, staff-to-child ratios, safety practices, and program compliance. Preferred Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. Experience working in K-12 or school-age educational settings. Experience working with publicly funded early childhood programs and/or state-funded contracts. Experience leading bilingual or culturally responsive educational programs. Licensing & Employment Requirements Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Successful completion of required background clearance/Live Scan. TB clearance and required health examination/clearance. Completion of Mandated Reporter, Workplace Violence Prevention, and other required California training. Proof of required immunizations and health documentation in accordance with applicable California licensing requirements. Must maintain all required permits, clearances, and certifications throughout employment. Working Conditions Full-time, on-site position. Primary work location is the Sol de Berkeley site in Berkeley, CA, with occasional visits to other BAHIA locations. Must be available to work some evenings and weekends for staff trainings, family events, organizational meetings, and other program needs. This position requires regular interaction with children, families, teaching staff, and community partners.
