ABOUT US
The h.wood Group is a Los Angeles based lifestyle and hospitality company with establishments and events across the United States and Europe. We are committed to providing a warm, inviting, and uniquely lavish experience for our diverse clientele. Our company is built on integrity, creating the world's best restaurants, nightlife, and events.
ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a Director of Construction to help bring a growing portfolio of restaurants and hospitality spaces to life—projects that are layered, transportive, and deeply rooted in a sense of place. Reporting to the SVP of Development, this role is focused on execution: leading the day-to-day realization of each project from design development through opening. You will work closely with creative, culinary, and operational teams to translate vision into environments that feel both effortless and meticulously considered. This is a role for someone who understands that great hospitality lives in the details—lighting levels, materiality, flow, and the subtle moments guests may never consciously notice, but always feel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Translate Vision into Built Experience Partner with brand, culinary, and operations teams to execute spaces that feel distinct, cohesive, and true to each concept. Collaborate with architects and designers to carry forward design intent while ensuring projects are buildable, efficient, and operationally sound. Advocate for materiality, craftsmanship, and spatial quality without losing sight of budget and timeline. Lead Project Execution Own the day-to-day management of multiple hospitality projects—from design development through construction and pre-opening. Drive schedules, budgets, and on-site execution with a high level of precision and accountability. Coordinate closely with general contractors, fabricators, and specialty vendors to ensure quality and consistency. Navigate permitting, approvals, and landlord coordination with confidence and clarity. Track procurement, custom elements, and long-lead items that are often critical to design-forward projects. Support a Seamless Opening Experience Work cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and leadership to ensure each space is delivered ready for service. Anticipate and solve for the realities of opening—bridging the gap between construction completion and lived-in hospitality. Provide clear, consistent updates to the SVP of Development and senior leadership. Cultivate the Right Partnerships Build strong relationships with contractors, millworkers, artisans, and consultants who share a commitment to quality and detail. Contribute to a network of collaborators capable of delivering highly customized, design-driven environments. Support landlord and external partner relationships as part of the broader development function.
QUALIFICATIONS
6-10 years of experience delivering projects in restaurants, boutique hotels, members' clubs, or design-led retail environments. Hands-on experience managing hospitality buildouts that prioritize both guest experience and operational flow. A strong understanding of construction processes, budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination. Experience working with highly customized design elements, finishes, and bespoke installations. Ability to manage multiple projects across different markets with competing timelines. Clear communicator with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach. You have a sharp eye and strong instincts for design, atmosphere, and guest experience. You're as comfortable walking a job site as you are sitting in a design review. You take pride in the details and understand their impact on the overall experience. You're organized, resourceful, and calm under pressure. You're drawn to the energy of hospitality—places that feel alive, social, and culturally relevant. You thrive in a fast-paced environment that values creativity, taste, and thoughtful execution over formula
