Job Description
Superintendent
Key ResponsibilitiesLead on-site construction activities for retail and restaurant projects, including TI and ground-up builds, from mobilization through closeout.
Develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries to meet milestones and avoid delays.
Supervise and mentor field crews; assign tasks, monitor productivity, and enforce company safety and quality standards.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners to resolve technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications promptly.
Manage daily site logistics, including staging, access, permitting, inspections, and site housekeeping.
Monitor project costs and report variances; support subcontractor invoice review and change order documentation.
Conduct routine quality inspections and punch-list activities to ensure work meets contract documents and industry standards.
Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, local regulations, and company safety policies (OSHA).Prepare and submit regular progress reports, daily logs, and closeout documentation.
Coordinate project closeout, including final inspections, warranties, as-built documentation, and client handover.
QualificationsMinimum 5-7 years experience as a Superintendent on retail and restaurant construction projects; demonstrated experience with tenant improvements (TI) and ground-up construction.
Proven track record overseeing multiple trades and managing complex jobsite logistics on fast-paced, high-visibility projects.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, means and methods, and ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
Experience with scheduling tools and construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, PlanGrid) and proficient with Microsoft Office.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and inspectors.
Working knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, ADA requirements, and OSHA safety standards (OSHA 10/30 preferred).Experience managing budgets, change orders, and cost-control practices.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel between job sites as required.
Construction superintendent certification, technical degree, or related trade background preferred but not required.
