This role requires a balance of field supervision and physical, hands-on work, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to a high standard of quality. The ideal candidate preferably has a strong background in framing and finish carpentry, is passionate about details and craftsmanship, and has a thorough understanding of how all phases of construction and building systems come together. The candidate should be comfortable reading and interpreting architectural, structural, engineering, and MEP plans, understanding construction details and engineered systems, and identifying and resolving potential conflicts in the field. Strong computer and research skills are required, and CAD knowledge is preferred. The ability to research construction details, products, codes, and technical solutions independently is highly valued. Travel is required, as we have projects on Catalina Island and other locations throughout California.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and actively participate in day-to-day construction activities. Perform skilled construction tasks as needed (framing, finish work, punch work, etc.) Coordinate and manage subcontractors, labor crews, and material deliveries Ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and schedules Maintain job site safety and enforce compliance with all safety standards Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues in real time Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members Track project progress and maintain daily reports and site documentation Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and code compliance Assist with scheduling and sequencing of work to keep projects on track
Qualifications:
Proven experience in residential construction, with some supervisory responsibilities Strong hands-on skills in one or more trades (e.g., framing, carpentry, remodeling) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents Solid understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and construction practices Strong leadership and team management skills Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Reliable transportation (truck required) and willingness to travel between job sites Must provide own basic hand tools necessary to perform job duties
Preferred Skills:
Experience in both new construction and residential remodeling Ability to step in and self-perform work when needed to keep projects moving Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Strong computer skills.
Work Environment:
Active construction sites with a mix of supervisory and physical work Frequent local travel between residential projects; occasional longer-distance travel Exposure to outdoor conditions and physically demanding tasks
Pay:
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
