Job Description

Primary Objectives and Job Summary JDS Design Build is the fastest growing interior design and build firm in the East Bay Area, and we are seeking a skilled, hands-on Bags-On Foreman to support our residential remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom home projects. This role bridges the gap between Lead Carpenter and Superintendent—serving as the working foreman on site for larger projects while actively performing carpentry and supporting daily field execution. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent craftsmanship, jobsite awareness, and the ability to keep projects moving efficiently while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and client experience.

Lead day-to-day onsite field operations while remaining actively involved in hands-on carpentry work Execute rough and finish carpentry including framing, layout, sheathing, siding, doors/windows, trim, cabinetry, stairs, railings, built-ins, punch work, and finish details Direct and support field staff in daily tasks, workflow, safety, and quality expectations Coordinate with the Superintendent on project sequencing, manpower needs, deliveries, inspections, and subcontractor readiness Assist with subcontractor coordination onsite, ensuring work is progressing correctly and jobsite expectations are met Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites with proper site protection and secure open/close procedures Review plans, elevations, and details; verify dimensions and identify constructability concerns early Troubleshoot field conditions and propose practical solutions Support other trades as needed including electrical, plumbing, tile, paint, flooring, and drywall prep Complete daily logs, progress photos, timecards, material take-offs, and field documentation Receive and verify deliveries; coordinate material staging and protection Help ensure inspections are prepared for and deficiencies are corrected promptly Enforce PPE, ladder safety, fall protection, and company safety standards at all times Safeguard company tools, equipment, and ensure manufacturer installation compliance Minimum Requirements Strong alignment with our company core values, mission, and standards Previous experience in residential remodeling, additions, and framing Proven leadership experience managing field staff and jobsite workflow Strong rough and finish carpentry skills with a high level of craftsmanship Ability to read and interpret construction plans, elevations, and layouts Strong understanding of residential building codes and best practices Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with leadership Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot field conditions efficiently Ability to take accurate measurements, perform material take-offs, and manage site readiness Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on field work Excellent communication and professionalism with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams Active California Class C Driver's License required
