ABOUT THE ROLE
Burton Design & Construction, LLC (BDC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to join our growing, fast-paced team. This is an opportunity to lead exciting, high-quality residential modular, new construction and remodel projects in and around the Malibu area, while playing a critical role in shaping the customer experience and operational excellence of our company. WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you will lead multiple residential construction projects from conception through completion, ensuring safety, quality, budget discipline, and outstanding client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Project Leadership Manage all phases of construction: planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, execution, inspections, and closeout. Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and quality results. Conduct regular site visits and oversee daily project operations. Maintain a high-touch, professional relationship with clients to ensure transparency, alignment, and trust throughout the project lifecycle. Team & Subcontractor Management Lead onsite personnel and subcontractor teams with clarity, confidence, and professionalism. Hold partners accountable to schedule, quality, and safety standards. Coach and mentor junior team members as needed. Operational Excellence Allocate and manage project resources effectively to drive efficiency and profitability. Review, negotiate, and award subcontractor bids with an emphasis on value and quality. Interpret architectural plans and specifications; proactively identify conflicts, risks, and required changes. Collaborate closely with inspectors, architects, engineers, designers, vendors, and local jurisdictions. Maintain accurate project documentation using Buildertrend (or similar software). Quality & Compliance Uphold BDC's workmanship standards, ensuring all work meets specifications and passes inspections. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, we're looking for someone with the following: Required Experience & Skills 5+ years of recent, relevant experience in residential construction management or project management (high-end or custom home experience is a strong plus). Experience with modular, residential new builds and remodels/additions. Past experience in hands on construction work building or remodeling home. Strong ability to manage multiple active projects in dynamic environments. Proficiency with construction management software (Buildertrend, ProCore, or equivalent). Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong vendor/subcontractor network knowledge. Strong negotiation skills and understanding of current market pricing for materials and labor. A solutions-first mindset—able to anticipate needs and resolve issues before they escalate. Ability to foster a strong customer experience. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to exceptional quality. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
WHO YOU REPORT TO
You will report to the Senior Project Manager , who helps ensure consistency, alignment, and operational excellence across teams.
LOCATION & TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
Primary office: Malibu, CA We are a work in the field and office culture and value team members who come to the office, work together, collaborate and learn from each other.
The core hours:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday Travel required between project sites

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time salaried role with a competitive starting range of $80,000-$125,000 , depending on experience. Growth opportunities exist as BDC continues to expand.
