Our work includes both residential and commercial construction , ranging from whole-home remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom residential projects to commercial tenant improvements, office renovations, retail construction, and ground-up commercial projects. As our project volume continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent who can take ownership of our projects in the field and help lead them from preconstruction through final completion. Position Overview The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations of assigned residential and commercial construction projects. This individual will serve as the primary field leader responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, monitoring workmanship, maintaining safe and organized jobsites, coordinating inspections, and identifying potential problems before they impact the project. The Superintendent will work closely with ownership, Project Management, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, design professionals, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to the plans, specifications, schedule, and Bresee Construction standards. We are looking for someone who understands construction from the ground up and can independently manage a project rather than waiting to be directed on every task. Key Responsibilities Manage daily field operations for residential and commercial construction projects. Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, equipment, and field personnel. Develop, maintain, and execute project construction schedules. Create and manage short-term look-ahead schedules for upcoming work. Review architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other project drawings. Review scopes of work, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other construction documents as required. Ensure subcontractors understand their scope and complete work according to plans and project requirements. Coordinate sequencing between trades to maintain project momentum. Perform regular quality-control inspections of work in progress. Identify construction conflicts, missing information, design discrepancies, and potential schedule impacts early. Coordinate with Project Management to resolve field conditions and construction issues. Schedule and prepare projects for city, county, special, and third-party inspections. Verify required work is complete before inspections or before the next trade begins. Maintain safe, clean, secure, and professional jobsites. Enforce company safety requirements and applicable jobsite safety standards. Monitor material needs and coordinate upcoming material and equipment deliveries. Track daily and weekly project progress. Provide accurate field updates, photos, schedule information, and documentation to Project Management. Participate in project kickoff meetings, subcontractor meetings, owner meetings, walkthroughs, and punch-list inspections. Review completed subcontractor work before approving work as complete. Maintain accountability among subcontractors for workmanship, manpower, schedule, and jobsite cleanliness. Coordinate corrections, punch-list work, and project closeout. Maintain professional communication with homeowners, business owners, property representatives, inspectors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Protect occupied homes, businesses, neighboring properties, landscaping, equipment, and existing improvements during construction. Immediately communicate additional work, unforeseen conditions, and scope discrepancies before proceeding with unapproved work. Assist with project turnover, closeout documentation, final inspections, and completion. Work closely with company leadership to continuously improve project execution and field operations. Residential Project Responsibilities Residential projects may include: Whole-home remodels Home additions ADUs Kitchen and bathroom renovations Structural renovations Exterior renovations Major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades Custom residential construction Design-build projects The Superintendent must understand the additional care required when working in or around occupied homes, including cleanliness, protection, homeowner communication, and maintaining a professional jobsite. Commercial Project Responsibilities Commercial projects may include: Tenant improvements Retail construction Office renovations Commercial remodels Medical or professional office improvements Restaurant or hospitality improvements Building renovations Ground-up commercial construction Commercial responsibilities may include coordinating with property managers, architects, engineers, inspectors, building owners, tenants, and multiple specialty subcontractors while maintaining schedule and site access requirements. Experience working with commercial plans, inspections, accessibility requirements, fire/life-safety systems, and commercial construction sequencing is preferred. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: 5+ years of construction experience preferred. Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Project Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, or similar field leadership position. Experience supervising residential and/or commercial construction projects. Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations. Knowledge of both renovation and new construction. Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans. Working knowledge of foundations, framing, drywall, waterproofing, roofing, finishes, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other major construction trades. Understanding of commercial and residential building practices. Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades simultaneously. Strong scheduling and organizational skills. Strong quality-control standards. Ability to identify poor workmanship and require corrections. Ability to recognize potential problems before they affect cost or schedule. Strong leadership and subcontractor management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to maintain accurate project documentation. Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, email, digital plans, and construction management software. Experience with Buildertrend or similar project management software is a plus. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel between projects throughout the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas.
