The Project Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and supervising employee activities. The Project Superintendent will be expected to supervise one or more trade groups of subcontractors including but not limited to Fire Alarm, Low Voltage, etc. and other construction disciplines. This position is already required to supervise both non-supervisory and supervisory staff on the job site. This position requires the ability to layout and perform advanced electrical installations and troubleshooting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows and enforces all safety rules and regulations while on the job site and while operating company vehicles. Works independently or with other field leaders to plan installations that minimize wasted materials, provide appropriate accesses, avoid unsightly or hazardous installations and meet all appropriate electrical codes. Plan and supervise craft activities including method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked. Validates completion of all assigned job tasks and ensures craftsmanship is acceptable. Prepares sketches of proposed and/or installed materials, as necessary. Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors. Maintain liaison with engineering and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required. Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented. Regularly communicate with customers via phone, emails, or meetings to share and receive pertinent project status information as well as build and maintain positive working relationships. Interact with Project Managers and other key internal customers to ensure emails, budgets, MOPs, T&M Tickets, daily job logs, staffing projections, and required safety documents are completed and submitted as appropriate. Maintain liaison with vendors and Inspectors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule. This position is required to drive. Expected to lead, train, and provide feedback for apprentices, JWs, and Foreman on the same job site. Other duties as assigned
JOB CRITERIA MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Valid Colorado (or reciprocal) JW or ME License Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience in electrical construction required
REQUIRED KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Follows all safety protocols set by general contractor, owners, and Duro Electric as well as participates in morning stretches, weekly took box talks, and all safety stand downs. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings as well as the ability to use industry-specific testing equipment. Ability to use industry-specific installation tools and has strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and ability to supervise ten to fifty employees is essential. Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Strong oral and written skills are required to complete documentation, present information, and respond to questions from managers and customers. Must be able to coordinate work amongst groups including, but not limited to, internal and external customers, service, accounting, project management, etc. Should be a fully experienced and competent individual capable of identifying deficiencies and following through on corrective action. Advanced working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components. Advanced blueprint reading and interpretation experience. Strong attendance record and the ability to be prompt and on time daily. Advanced knowledge of all company procedures and protocols including the employee handbook and operations manual Ability to work and function in a dynamic teamwork environment. Must meet Duro's minimum tool requirement and be proficient in use of required trade tools. Must be able and willing to travel to sites within assigned territory. Ability to coach and mentor employees and to utilize corrective action as appropriate. Advanced computer skills, with MS Office, Bluebeam and other construction-related software.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have and maintain safe driving record. Current valid driver's license required Reliable source of transportation Must complete 24 hours of CEUs every three (3) years and maintain their active JW or ME license status.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completed accredited electrical apprenticeship program OSHA 30 certification. Forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift certifications. NICET 1 or 2. Denver Fire Alarm Installer License NFPA70. CPR/First Aid certification.
