The Superintendent is responsiblefor overseeing and managing all day-to-day job site activities,including project team performance, site conditions, safety andquality standards, compliance with scope, and effective managementof trade partners. Responsibilities Oversee, manage, and documentall day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety complianceDirect field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolksupervisory principles Communicate issues, events, performance, andprogress daily to the Project Manager Report any problems promptlyto the Project Manager to facilitate the most cost-effectivesolutions Establish effective working relationships with clientsand Suffolk team members Request advice and assistance from theGeneral Superintendent on matters pertaining to materials,sequencing, scheduling and personnel
Project Start-Up/TurnoverMeeting:
Identify pre-mobilization activities in conjunction withthe Project Executive, General Superintendent, and the ProjectManager Develop start-up schedule with Project Manager and send itto the Project Executive and General Superintendent for review
Scheduling:
Assist in formulating and implementing constructionschedules in the field Establish and implement the Project BaselineSchedule based on the project contracts and subcontractor input,taking into account any elements that might impact the scheduleMaintain the schedule and ensure that work performed is consistentwith the contract and will meet or exceed client expectationsUpdate Project Schedule monthly Provide progress report with thetwo-week look ahead of schedule to the Project Manager and thefield staff
Safety:
Ensure that all subcontractors participate in asafety pre-construction meeting prior to starting work on theproject Ensure that all subcontractors have a full set of MSDsheets on the project, as well as their site specific safety planand current insurance certificate or
OCIP/CCIP
enrollment ID Reviewthe project daily to ensure that all activities are being performedin accordance with all OSHA and governing requirements and theproject site specific safety plan Review safety reports and injurydata to assess safety performance on assigned projects Ensureproject(s) are budgeted & staffed appropriately to support safetyprograms Communicate clear expectations for safety to project teamsPerform safety inspections using predictive solutions software IAWSCCI safety program Adhere to all Suffolk Safety programrequirements
Quality Management:
Ensure that all pertinentbenchmarks for the project are established and inserted into thebaseline schedule Ensure that all appropriate individuals becomemembers of the Q-Team Ensure that all 1st delivery inspections andBenchmark inspections occur per the baseline schedule so as not toimpact the progression of the subsequent work Ensure that theinspections are approved, documented, and communicated to theproject team Subcontractor and Site Management throughout the
Project:
Manage site pre-construction including pre-constructionsurvey, job site utilization and staging plans Mobilize the fieldoffice and maintains the job site to Suffolk standards Organizedocumentation of the job site for easy access and review Managesubcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards Workwith PM to identify and resolve personnel issues and constructionprocess revisions Manage all phases of the construction processincluding documenting and reporting site activities and progress,manage excavations and assist with
Job Site Utilization PlanMeeting Management:
Attend project turnover, mobilization, andproject coordination meetings Attend/chair safety pre-constructionmeetings Attend/chair weekly foreman and safety meetingsAttend/chair monthly schedule review meetings Attend closeoutmeetings Attend owner meetings Attend/chair subcontractor meetingsand any others necessary to monitor and manage the project
Administrative Management:
Complete and implement constructionoffice checklists including emergency phone lists Complete dailyreports and maintains logs of key activities, files, and shopdrawings Manage the quality and condition of all materialdeliveries Maintain required safety reporting and all otherrequired files to Suffolk standards Insure that as-built workingdrawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log andrevision log, communicating this to the subcontractors
ProjectCloseout:
Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities,owner training, work list and punch list
Training:
Recognize theimportance of participating in training program by contributingboth in class and as a SME Qualifications Bachelor's degree inapplicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope4 years of experience in related construction fields The ability tomanage and embrace change.
