Construction Superintendent Job Description This Construction Superintendent role oversees daily operations on commercial, clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, healthcare, and manufacturing construction projects. You ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to high quality standards while coordinating teams, managing schedules and budgets, and serving as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to manage projects from purchase order through final completion within a growing company that emphasizes training, development, and long-term career growth. Responsibilities Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring work adheres to project plans, specifications, and quality criteria. Oversee the entire implementation process from takeover of work preparation through project delivery, managing projects from purchase order to final completion. Enforce safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular site inspections and meetings to maintain a safe, hazard-free environment. Lead, direct, and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff, ensuring they are qualified and properly guided to perform their work effectively. Provide operational management to the entire execution team and, where applicable, subcontractors within a medium-sized project team. Plan, coordinate, and sequence work activities for multiple projects so that construction progresses efficiently and according to schedule. Monitor project schedules closely, with a strong emphasis on scheduling, and adjust plans as needed to meet milestones and deadlines. Manage project budgets and financial performance, including financial monitoring and settlement of projects. Handle change management processes, including change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution. Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure all work meets industry standards and client expectations. Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns. Maintain ongoing communication with clients during the construction process, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction. Use project management software and digital tools, including MS Project, Procore, Sage, and other platforms, for scheduling, reporting, and documentation. Maintain accurate records of site activities, progress reports, safety documentation, and compliance records. Identify potential issues, delays, or risks early, and implement effective solutions to keep projects on track. Support and participate in training and development initiatives, including toolbox meetings and other forums to enhance staff capabilities. Coordinate and manage projects ranging from ground-up construction to office fit-outs and renovations, including high-end clean room and biopharma environments. Ensure subcontract management, project coordination, and project scheduling activities are executed consistently across all assigned projects. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent in the commercial construction industry. 7-10+ years of experience managing high-end clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and similar advanced facility projects. Strong understanding of construction project management, including planning, execution, and close-out. Expertise in construction processes, materials, and safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and supervise field staff and subcontractors. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions. Proficiency with project management software and digital tools, including MS Project, Procore, and Sage. Experience with project scheduling and a strong emphasis on maintaining and adjusting schedules to meet deadlines. Experience with change orders, RFIs, submittals, and quantity take-offs. Experience in construction project management for commercial projects ranging from approximately $500K to $20M, with a core focus on $3-5M projects. Experience overseeing ground-up construction, office fit-outs, and renovation projects. Experience working on healthcare, manufacturing, clean room, or biopharma projects. Familiarity with subcontract management, project coordination, and general contractor operations. OSHA certification preferred. PMP certification or progress toward PMP certification preferred. Technology proficiency with tools such as Procore, Sage, MS Project, and related project management platforms. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on clean room, biopharma, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor facility projects. Background in healthcare and manufacturing construction environments. Knowledge of construction estimation and financial monitoring of projects. Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar tools for document review and markup. Experience with safety management and conducting toolbox or similar safety meetings. PMP certification is a strong plus. Additional industry certifications beyond OSHA are a plus. Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously within a medium-sized project team. Capability to take full ownership of a project from purchase order through completion. Strong communication skills for client interaction, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $180000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
