Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Permit Coordinator for a direct hire opportunity in DeLand, FL. This role supports residential and commercial construction projects by owning the permitting process across Volusia County and its municipalities, helping ensure permit status does not delay construction schedules. The Permit Coordinator will work closely with project managers, construction teams, field staff, and local jurisdictions to prepare, submit, track, and close out building permits. - Prepare, submit, and track building permits across Volusia County and municipalities including DeLand, Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Deltona, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, and Edgewater.
- Manage jurisdiction-specific permitting portals, fee payments, notices of commencement, resubmittals, and responses to plan review comments.
- Maintain an accurate permit status log that supports the construction schedule and proactively escalates delays to the construction team.
- Coordinate permit-related inspection scheduling with field staff and local jurisdiction contacts.
- Assemble certificates of occupancy and permit closeout documentation for project files.
- Maintain permitting records to federal program audit standards, ensuring each submittal and approval is tied to the correct project file. Compensation and Benefits

- Work pattern includes local travel. Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage the full building permit process from preparation and submission through approval and closeout.
- Track permit status across multiple jurisdictions and keep construction teams informed of delays, approvals, and required action items.
- Coordinate permit-related inspections, resubmittals, fee payments, notices of commencement, and certificate of occupancy documentation.
- Maintain organized permitting records and project files in support of construction schedules and audit requirements.
- Two or more years of residential permitting experience in Florida.
- Working knowledge of Florida Building Code submittal requirements.
- Hands-on experience using municipal permitting portals such as Accela, iMS, or equivalent systems.
- Strong document control skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage open items, deadlines, jurisdiction requirements, and multiple active project files.
- Strong communication skills for working with project managers, field teams, municipal staff, and construction stakeholders.
- Ability to work in an office-based role with local travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federally funded construction or housing programs.
- Experience managing permits across multiple Volusia County municipalities.
- Familiarity with residential and commercial construction documentation, inspection scheduling, and permit closeout processes.
