Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, or a closely related field; 5 years of experience as Industrial Designer or closely related field. The employer will also accept a Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
JOB DUTIES
Research, conceptualize, and develop industrial design solutions for construction, residential, and commercial development projects, integrating aesthetic principles, structural requirements, material specifications, and production feasibility to meet project objectives and client standards. Conduct site assessments, client needs analyses, and market research to identify design requirements, evaluate material and product performance, and inform strategic design decisions across active construction and development projects managed by affiliated entities. Develop design concepts, prototypes, and visual specifications including technical drawings, 3D renderings, material boards, and layout compositions using industry-standard design and visualization tools to communicate design intent to project managers, contractors, and executive leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including construction managers, contractors, engineers, procurement personnel, and executive leadership to define product and material specifications, resolve design and construction challenges, and ensure successful implementation of design solutions across projects. Manage the full product and design development lifecycle from initial concept through design refinement, prototyping, material sourcing, contractor coordination, and final installation, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and business objectives. Design and maintain cohesive visual design systems, interior finish standards, and branding guidelines to ensure consistency and coherence across affiliated construction and development projects. Develop design documentation including technical specifications, material schedules, installation drawings, system interaction diagrams, and functional layouts to support construction teams, contractors, and procurement personnel. Coordinate and oversee product and design evaluation procedures including material performance reviews, on-site quality inspections, and usability assessments to identify design deficiencies and implement corrective refinements based on field feedback and project performance data. Evaluate design solutions for functional performance considerations including structural compatibility, material durability, accessibility compliance, scalability across project types, and integration with broader construction systems and building specifications. Direct pre-construction design planning activities including the development of visual concepts, material presentations, design narratives, and project timelines aligned with overall construction strategy and client requirements. Monitor and assess emerging materials, construction technologies, design trends, and industry developments to incorporate innovative solutions that enhance project functionality, aesthetic value, and competitive positioning of affiliated entities. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners including material vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to ensure effective execution of design and product development initiatives from concept through project delivery. Supervise and provide direction to junior designers, drafting staff, and design personnel engaged in product development and construction design projects, ensuring quality standards, design integrity, and project milestones are maintained across all affiliated entity operations.
