This is a senior field leadership position for an individual who understands how to manage multiple crews and projects, coordinate manpower and equipment, maintain production schedules, and hold superintendents and foremen accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and project completion. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in our specific industry . Candidates whose experience is primarily vertical/building construction without significant underground utility and site-development experience will not be a good fit for this position. Responsibilities The General Superintendent / Operations Manager will be responsible for: Overseeing multiple active projects and field crews Managing and supporting project superintendents, foremen, operators, and field personnel Planning and coordinating manpower, equipment, and resources between projects Monitoring daily production and keeping projects on schedule Coordinating closely with Project Managers and company leadership Reviewing upcoming work and developing practical field execution plans Managing underground utility installation including water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and related structures Overseeing earthwork, excavation, grading, roadway/site work, and paving operations Coordinating utility shutdowns, tie-ins, testing, inspections, and project sequencing Reading and interpreting civil plans, specifications, profiles, details, and utility conflicts Identifying constructability issues before they become field problems Ensuring crews have the materials, equipment, information, and support needed to remain productive Monitoring subcontractors and coordinating their work with company operations Enforcing company safety requirements and maintaining a strong safety culture Maintaining quality standards and minimizing unnecessary rework Helping resolve field issues with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other contractors Tracking field performance and holding supervisors accountable for results Assisting management with improving company-wide field operations, efficiency, and profitability Required Experience The ideal candidate should have: 10+ years of heavy civil/site-development construction experience preferred Significant experience supervising underground utility construction Strong knowledge of water main, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, excavation, grading, and site development Experience managing multiple crews and multiple projects simultaneously Previous experience as a General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, Operations Manager, Area Superintendent, or similar senior field leadership position Strong understanding of construction sequencing, production, manpower planning, and equipment utilization Ability to read and understand civil construction plans and specifications Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to identify problems early and make sound field decisions Strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and productivity Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required What We Are Looking For We are looking for a strong field leader , not simply someone who manages from an office. The right person should be comfortable visiting jobsites, working directly with superintendents and foremen, evaluating production, solving construction problems, and making sure our crews have what they need to perform efficiently. This position requires someone who can see the big picture across multiple projects while still understanding the details of underground utility and site construction.
