Premier Athletic Surfaces is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Operations Manager to lead our Tallahassee-based operations. In this role, you will own the end-to-end delivery of our sport court construction and resurfacing projects—from preconstruction planning through final walkthrough and client sign-off. This is a dynamic, high-accountability leadership role that requires a strong balance of field presence and administrative rigor. You will manage our Project Managers (PMs) and Field Crew Leads, optimize team productivity, coordinate subcontractors, handle material logistics, and ensure every job meets our elite standards of quality and safety. What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities) 1. Project Execution & Scheduling

Own the master project schedule across all active jobs; maintain accurate start/completion timelines and communicate proactively when milestones shift.

Preconstruction Readiness:

Lead the preconstruction checklist process—confirming permits, site readiness, material lead times, and crew assignments before mobilization.

Quality Inspections:

Conduct pre-pour site inspections and post-pour quality checks on all concrete, asphalt, and acrylic/post-tension surfaces.

Punch List Management:

Drive punch lists to zero, ensuring all final details are resolved before client invoicing. 2. Project Manager Supervision & Mentorship

Direct Management:

Manage, assign, and support our Project Managers. Set clear scope, schedule, and budget expectations at kickoff, and hold weekly 1:1 meetings to remove roadblocks.

Document Review:

Review and approve PM-submitted project schedules, subcontractor scope documents, and client communication.

Cost Auditing:

Audit PM job cost tracking monthly, coaching them on proactive cost management and early escalation of potential overruns.

KPIs & Performance:

Conduct quarterly performance reviews for PMs using defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); identify staffing and capacity constraints as project volume grows.

Escalation Point:

Serve as the final resolution point for PM-level client disputes, scope disagreements, or field-execution conflicts. 3. Materials, Procurement & Logistics

Inventory Control:

Maintain accurate inventory levels for specialty surfacing materials (acrylic systems, court paint, crack filler, post-tension components, hardware) and trigger reorders to avoid shortages.

Real-Time Tracking:

Keep the company's inventory management system updated in real time, conducting weekly reviews with office staff.

Waste Reduction:

Minimize material waste and overages through accurate material take-offs and post-project job costing reconciliation. 4. Financial Accountability

Weekly Reviews:

Review job cost reports weekly with the Owner/CEO, identifying cost overruns early and executing corrective actions.

Purchase Approvals:

Approve field-level purchase orders up to designated authority limits; escalate larger expenditures to the CEO.

Estimation Support:

Partner with the estimating team, providing field-informed labor and material cost data to improve future bid accuracy.

Time & Payroll:

Track and validate labor hours by project using our digital time-tracking system. 5. Safety, Compliance & Communication

OSHA Standards:

Ensure all job sites strictly adhere to OSHA standards and conduct monthly safety tailgates with field staff.

Incident Management:

Maintain accurate incident logs and manage workers' comp claim intakes in coordination with our insurance broker.

Government Compliance:

Ensure audit readiness and full compliance on government-funded and prevailing wage projects (including Davis-Bacon certified payroll and documentation).

Client Relations:

Act as the primary operations point of contact for active clients, providing professional weekly status updates.

Sign-off & Warranty:

Conduct final walkthroughs to obtain written client sign-off. Respond to warranty callbacks within 24 hours and coordinate remediation within 5 business days. What We're Looking For (Qualifications)

Required:

Experience:

5+ years of experience in construction operations, project management, or field supervision. Experience in specialty surfacing, sport court construction, or concrete/asphalt paving is strongly preferred.

Multi-Crew Management:

Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and field crews in a fast-paced environment.

Tech Savvy:

Proficiency with digital project scheduling tools, job costing reports, and time-tracking systems.

Certifications:

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (eligible to drive company vehicles) and OSHA 10 certified (or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire).

Communication:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with field crew, sub-contractors, and commercial/municipal clients.

Travel:

Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time based on project needs.

Preferred:

• Experience working directly with athletic/sport surface systems.
• Familiarity with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll documentation.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

• Must be comfortable working outdoors on active, hot construction sites (especially standard Florida climate conditions).
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, and inspect uneven active job sites for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs if necessary during field operations. What We Offer (Compensation & Benefits)

$105,000 - $115,000 base salary (commensurate with experience).
