Position Summary Carlson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Joliet, IL. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader who excels at building strong, lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams. Responsibilities As Project Manager, you will: Manage budgeting, estimating, and related activities for large-scale construction projects Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and construction personnel Select subcontractors, delegate work, and negotiate subcontract agreements Provide leadership for estimating, bidding, and pre-construction phases of each project Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, engineers, public officials, trade partners, field superintendents, and construction personnel Support the project team, including project managers, contract administration, field superintendents, and accounting Resolve issues and proactively address delays, emergencies, and other challenges as they arise Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and all applicable legal requirements Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress Communicate contract and technical matters clearly to clients and stakeholders Apply strong time-management skills to accurately estimate work effort and scheduling needs across projects Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience in project management or construction project management on diverse projects Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred, but not required Experience with construction or project management software preferred Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills Strong writing skills for proposals and reports Benefits Carlson Construction offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical and dental insurance 401(k) - Traditional and Roth, 100% vested from the date of contribution Life insurance Short-term and long-term disability insurance Paid time off Paid holidays Health Savings Account (HSA) Discretionary bonuses
