Superintendent Roles & Responsibilities 1.
Leadership and Support Set Clear Goals :
Establish project objectives and team goals. Communicate expectations around safety, quality, deadlines, and budget to all on-site team members.
Mentor and Develop Team :
Support team members' growth by providing guidance, training, and feedback to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Problem-Solving :
Lead by example when issues arise, offering solutions or alternative approaches to keep the project on track.
Foster Accountability :
Hold team members accountable to their roles, ensuring everyone understands and meets their responsibilities. 2. Proactive Planning (Stay 4 Weeks Ahead)
Pre-Project Planning :
Before construction begins, review all plans, blueprints, schedules, and resources to prepare for the project's demands. 4-
Week Look-Ahead :
Regularly develop and update a 4-week look-ahead schedule, anticipating future steps, potential delays, and solutions.
Inventory and Resource Management :
Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment well in advance to prevent delays.
Risk Management :
Identify potential risks to the schedule or budget and develop contingency plans. 3. Effective Communication with
Project Manager, APM, and Client Regular Check-Ins :
Schedule regular meetings with the Project Manager (PM) and Assistant Project Manager (APM) to discuss updates, concerns, and adjustments to plans.
Client Updates :
Keep the PM's informed on progress, upcoming phases, and any potential issues. Communicate openly to manage expectations and build trust.
Detailed Reporting :
Prepare and provide progress reports, and other relevant documentation to keep PM/APM fully informed.
Transparency :
Address any challenges or delays transparently to avoid surprises and ensure prompt adjustments. 4.
Client Communication and Issue Resolution Client Meetings :
Host regular site walkthroughs or meetings with clients to review progress, address concerns, and answer questions.
Issue Resolution :
Respond promptly to any issues raised by the client, working with the general superintendent and other stakeholders to find resolutions.
Feedback Loop :
Encourage client feedback at various stages to ensure satisfaction and allow for any necessary adjustments.
Documentation :
Keep detailed records of all client interactions, issues raised, and resolutions for accountability and project record-keeping. 5. Drive Field Operations (Safety, Quality Control, Collaboration, Culture)
Safety First :
Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are strictly followed by all team members, and address any safety concerns immediately.
Quality Assurance :
Implement and uphold rigorous quality control standards, conducting regular inspections and addressing issues promptly.
Promote Collaboration :
Foster open communication and a collaborative environment among all field staff, subcontractors, and vendors.
Positive Work Culture :
Lead by example to build a productive and respectful work culture, promoting professionalism and teamwork on-site.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
