What You'll Do Lead Heavy Civil Construction Projects Manage all phases of heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout Oversee excavation, grading, underground utility, earthwork, and site development operations Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resource planning, and production goals Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field crews, engineers, inspectors, and clients to ensure successful project execution Drive Project Performance & Profitability Monitor project costs, production, schedules, and job progress to maintain profitability and performance targets Collaborate with estimators to review project scope, cost assumptions, production rates, and value engineering opportunities Manage change orders, project forecasting, and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle Analyze field production and proactively identify solutions to prevent delays, inefficiencies, and cost overruns Lead Communication & Operations Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, schedules, progress reports, and closeout documentation Ensure compliance with safety standards, project specifications, permitting requirements, and quality expectations Bridge communication between field operations and office management to improve coordination and efficiency Support & Mentor Teams Provide leadership, accountability, and guidance to project teams and field personnel Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, safety, and operational excellence Assist in developing stronger project management systems, workflows, and operational procedures What We're Looking For Required Experience & Skills 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction project management, excavation, grading, utilities, or site development Strong understanding of construction scheduling, job costing, budgeting, and project forecasting Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Strong knowledge of excavation, earthmoving, underground utilities, and civil construction operations Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents Excellent communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills Software & Technical Skills Experience with construction management and estimating software such as HCSS, Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar platforms Strong understanding of project cost tracking and field production analysis Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Qualifications Prior superintendent or foreman experience strongly preferred Experience managing both field operations and project administration Knowledge of local construction practices, permitting, and industry standards PMP, CCM, LEED, or similar certifications are a plus Why HB Construction?
