Job Description

Dan Brown Construction is a locally owned, fast-growing general construction firm offering services in residential and commercial construction throughout the Southern Tier of New York. We take pride in everything we do; our projects are completed on time, on budget, and our crew keeps a clean and respectful workplace. Our promise to build trust with quality construction has resulted in lifelong relationships with our clients, vendors, and other industry professionals. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Foreman / Superintendent to take full ownership of field operations across multiple simultaneous projects — typically 5 or more active jobs ranging from new decks to home additions and occasional single-family builds. This is a hands-on hybrid role split between job sites and the office, combining strategic project oversight with day-to-day field leadership. You will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships. Responsibilities and Duties Oversee all aspects of multiple residential projects from pre-construction through closeout, including scheduling, budgeting, permitting, and quality control. Manage 2-3 active field crews; coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and crew leads; enforce safety protocols and conduct regular site inspections. Work with CFO to track costs, approve invoices, forecast cash flow, and protect profitability on each job. Order and schedule materials — confirm specs match contracted agreements, coordinate deliveries, and monitor progress to meet or exceed deadlines. Develop and maintain project schedules; proactively address delays and adjust resources as needed. Handle all client communications, progress updates, change orders, and issue resolution to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. Ensure full compliance with New York State building codes, Broome County local regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety policies. Negotiate subcontractor agreements, manage vendor relationships, and resolve field conflicts efficiently. Mentor foremen and field staff; foster a collaborative, safety-first culture. Prepare and present regular project status reports to ownership.
Qualifications:
6+ years in residential (or light commercial) construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory foreman or PM role managing multiple projects concurrently. Proven track record delivering residential projects on time and within budget. Strong knowledge of residential construction means, methods, sequencing, and materials (framing, finishes, MEP, site work). Experience with deck framing and composite/Trex installation strongly preferred. Familiarity with New York State building codes, permitting, and Broome County / Southern Tier requirements is a significant plus.
Proficient with construction software:
Procore, Buildertrend, CompanyCam, MS Office/Project, or equivalent. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills — able to manage competing priorities across several active jobs.
