This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and developing a team of Construction Managers, establishing consistent construction standards, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality expectations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on construction leader who can step into complex or underperforming projects, quickly identify issues, establish structure, remove roadblocks, and drive teams toward measurable results. Key Responsibilities Construction Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and hold multiple Construction Managers accountable across active projects in Illinois and, eventually, Pennsylvania.
  • Establish expectations for safety, schedule, quality, staffing, productivity, client satisfaction, and financial performance .
  • Conduct weekly operating reviews covering project health, staffing, risks, schedule, costs, and performance.
  • Develop KPIs and performance expectations for regional construction teams.
  • Provide escalation support for schedule delays, subcontractor issues, client concerns, and project recovery plans.
  • Develop future construction leaders through coaching, training, succession planning, and performance management.
Multi-Region Construction Operations:
  • Oversee construction execution across multiple utility-scale solar and BESS projects .
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, Construction Managers, QA/QC, and safety resources based on project requirements.
  • Standardize field reporting, project dashboards, forecasting, SOPs, and closeout processes across regions.
  • Lead regional business reviews covering staffing, project risks, subcontractors, claims, backlog, and forecasted revenue.
  • Support expansion of construction operations into new markets. Project & Financial Management
  • Review construction budgets, labor curves, indirect costs, equipment utilization, and resource plans.
  • Monitor earned value, cost-to-complete forecasts, project margins, P&L performance, and cash flow .
  • Support change order management and recovery of owner-caused delays and project impacts.
  • Partner with Project Management, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Development, O&M, and Asset Management teams.
Safety & Quality:
  • Lead and maintain company safety and OSHA programs , including applicable compliance requirements and contractor safety systems such as ISNetworld.
  • Establish consistent HSSE standards, audits, incident response, and corrective action processes.
  • Ensure strong QA/QC execution, including inspections, turnover documentation, punch-list completion, and commissioning readiness.
  • Benchmark project and regional performance to drive continuous improvement.
Client & Subcontractor Leadership:
  • Support Construction Managers during key client meetings and project escalations.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, utilities, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate and develop regional subcontractor networks and performance scorecards.
  • Help resolve complex subcontractor, interconnection, schedule, and execution challenges.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of construction leadership experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, EPC, BESS, or heavy civil construction.
  • 5+ years of experience leading regional or multi-project construction operations.
  • Proven experience managing and developing Construction Managers and field leadership teams .
  • Experience overseeing multiple active projects across different locations or regions.
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project controls, contracts, cost forecasting, labor productivity, and change management .
  • Experience managing construction P&L, budgets, margins, and forecasting .
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, safety programs, QA/QC, and construction compliance .
  • Experience managing subcontractors and resolving complex project execution issues.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to regional offices and project sites. Key Performance Metrics

This position will support projects across Illinois , with potential expansion into Pennsylvania .
