Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead multi-region field construction operations for utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) . This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing Construction Managers, driving project execution, and ensuring strong performance across safety, schedule, quality, budget, productivity, and profitability . The ideal candidate is a hands-on, solutions-oriented construction leader who can stabilize challenging projects, develop high-performing teams, and establish scalable processes across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage multiple Construction Managers across active projects.
  • Establish accountability for safety, schedule, quality, productivity, budget, and project profitability .
  • Conduct regular operational reviews to assess project health, staffing, risks, and financial performance.
  • Oversee construction execution across multiple utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, and management resources based on project requirements.
  • Standardize field reporting, project controls, forecasting, dashboards, and closeout processes.
  • Review construction budgets, labor plans, equipment utilization, cost-to-complete forecasts, and margins.
  • Drive project P&L performance, cash flow, and change-order recovery.
  • Provide leadership and escalation support for schedule delays, subcontractor issues, client concerns, and project recovery.
  • Lead construction safety programs, OSHA compliance, audits, incident response, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure consistent QA/QC processes, inspections, turnover documentation, punch-list completion, and commissioning readiness.
  • Recruit, develop, and build a strong pipeline of Construction Managers and field leadership.
  • Establish training and development programs covering scheduling, QA/QC, contracts, owner relations, and construction best practices.
  • Support client, developer, utility, and subcontractor relationships.
  • Contribute to market expansion, subcontractor development, and regional construction strategy.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of construction leadership experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, EPC, or heavy civil construction.
  • 5+ years managing Construction Managers or regional construction/operations leaders.
  • Proven experience leading multiple construction projects simultaneously across different locations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project controls, contracts, cost forecasting, labor productivity, and project financials .
  • Experience managing large renewable energy project portfolios.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and resolving complex project issues.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, safety, QA/QC, and construction compliance requirements .
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites and regional offices. Key Performance Metrics

Pay:
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
