$120,000-150,000, commensurate with experience About PCI Builders PCI Builders is a woman-owned design-build general contractor serving Southern California since 2008. Our work includes custom homes, fire rebuilds, additions, ADUs, remodeling, and commercial construction. As we grow, we are expanding our home-building capabilities with a focus on fire-resistant construction and innovative technologies, including 3D concrete printing and Sonic Fire Tech. Position Summary PCI Builders is seeking a Preconstruction and Construction Project Manager to own projects from the initial site visit through final closeout and play an integral role in a growing company. This person will define the complete scope of work, prepare the estimate, develop the project schedule, establish and manage the job budget, coordinate billing milestones, direct field teams and subcontractors, manage change orders, and serve as the primary point of contact for the client. This is a hands-on role for someone with full-project residential general contracting experience who can estimate all trades and manage construction execution in the field. The successful candidate must understand how a project is built, recognize scope gaps and risks, and maintain accountability for schedule, cost, quality, and communication throughout the entire project lifecycle. Core Responsibilities Conduct initial site visits, evaluate project requirements, and develop complete scopes of work. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates across all construction trades, including labor, materials, fixtures and finishes, equipment, rentals and subcontractor pricing. Review plans, specifications, perform take-offs, and identify scope gaps or project risks. Solicit, analyze and award subcontractor and supplier bids. Develop and maintain project budgets and construction schedules. Manage a portfolio of 6-8 projects at varying stages of preconstruction and construction. Schedule and oversee field employees, subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, and inspections. Track actual and projected costs against budget and take timely action to address variances. Provide the billing team with accurate information needed to prepare timely progress billings. Identify changes in scope and provide the information needed to prepare and issue change orders. Serve as the primary client contact and provide proactive updates on progress, decisions, budget, and schedule. Maintain organized project documentation and ensure work meets plans, quality standards, and safety requirements through closeout. Create and maintain cost databases and pricing libraries. Qualifications 3-5 years minimum of experience estimating and managing residential construction projects for a general contractor. Demonstrated ability to prepare complete, all-trades estimates for remodels, additions, ADUs, custom homes, or similar residential projects. Experience managing projects from preconstruction through completion, including budgets, schedules, field coordination, billing milestones, and change orders. Strong practical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, materials, subcontractor scopes, and jobsite operations. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and other construction documents. Strong cost-control, analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Clear, proactive communication and the ability to maintain professional relationships with clients, field employees, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal teams. Ability to manage a portfolio of 6-8 projects concurrently at varying stages of preconstruction and construction. Self-motivated with a high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple bids or projects simultaneously. Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites. Preferred Skills Bachelor's degree, preferably in construction management. Self-starter who can work independently but values collaboration and takes pride in being part of a growing, team-oriented company. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines. Flexible team player with a can-do attitude, willing to take on different tasks and assist others to keep projects moving forward. Experience with Buildertrend or other construction software, and Microsoft Office.
