Position summary The Senior Site Superintendent runs Redicool jobsites day to day and owns what actually happens on site. This person leads the field, oversees and coordinates subcontracted crews, holds the line on safety, owns installation quality, drives ground-level schedule execution, and keeps the jobsite documented and inspection-ready. Field labor is delivered through subcontractors whom this role directs to Redicool's standard. As Redicool's founding field hire, the Senior Site Superintendent sets the field standard the rest of the field organization will be built on. The role is jobsite-facing and travel-heavy. Assigned projects currently span McPherson, Kansas and Henrietta, Texas, with an expected volume of roughly 35,000 business miles per year in a company-provided vehicle. ________________________________________ Essential duties and responsibilities Site safety leadership. Set the safety tone on every site. Lead safety rather than merely comply with it: identify hazards, correct them, and stop work when the situation calls for it, even under schedule or customer pressure. Own jobsite compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements, including fall protection, trench and excavation protection, and lockout/tagout before work on equipment. Subcontractor leadership. Direct and coordinate subcontracted field crews and hold them to Redicool's standard. Get subs to perform, address non-performance and conflict directly and early, and keep the job moving while keeping working relationships intact. Field execution and installation quality. Own overall site coordination and sequencing across trades, and hold each subcontractor accountable for its own means and methods and for work that conforms to the contract documents and specifications. Deliver installation quality, catch defects early, and keep the schedule advancing on site rather than reporting on why it stalled. Own the punch list through to a clean, verified closeout of installed work. Problem-solving in the field. Handle the daily curveballs (missing material, weather, a no-show subcontractor) without stalling the crew or waiting for someone else to solve it. Resequence, chase material, line up productive work, and communicate up so nobody is surprised. Jobsite documentation and inspection-readiness. Keep the site documented and audit-ready: daily logs, inspection sign-offs, and field records complete and current. Maintain the jobsite in a condition that passes inspection at any time. Reliability and integrity. Show up. Be straight about status, quality, and safety. Do what was committed. This is the trait the whole role rests on. Supervisory responsibilities This role oversees and coordinates subcontracted crews on assigned jobsites rather than directing Redicool employees. Responsibilities include assigning and sequencing daily work to subs, holding subcontractors to safety and quality standard, addressing performance issues on site, and providing input on subcontractor selection. ________________________________________
Milestones:
what good looks like These describe what strong performance looks like at each mark, measured from start date. They are calibrated for the founding field hire, who is standing up Redicool's field practices while running live work, not stepping into an established field organization. They are expectations of what should be demonstrated, not a probationary checklist. By 30 days (ramp and orient)
- Fully set up and operating: safety orientation complete, company vehicle and field hardware in service, and Redicool software provisioned and in daily use.
- Has walked the active sites, met the key subcontractors and site-side stakeholders, and can speak to each project's scope, current phase, and buyout status.
- Knows Redicool's contract documents, specifications, and safety program well enough to set clear expectations with subs on site.
- Established a daily documentation cadence: daily logs, photos, and inspection tracking, with no gaps.
- Delivered a first read on site risk: the safety exposures, schedule threats, and any subcontractor performance concerns, each with a recommended action. By 90 days (run the sites)
- Running assigned jobsites independently: leading daily coordination across trades and holding subcontractors to schedule, quality, and safety standard without day-to-day direction.
- Safety leadership visible on site: routine walks, hazards caught and corrected early, stop-work authority used appropriately, and no incident traceable to unmanaged site conditions.
- Catching installation defects before they are buried, keeping sites inspection-ready, and holding a high first-time inspection pass rate.
- Carrying the interim PM (Field) scope cleanly: schedule updated, field costs captured, RFIs moving, and nothing dropped at closeout.
- Handling field curveballs (late material, weather, a no-show sub) without idling crews, and flagging problems up the chain before they become surprises.
- A first version of the field playbook written down (site setup, safety expectations, documentation cadence, QA checkpoints), not carried only in his head. By 180 days (own the field function)
- Trusted to run the portfolio unsupervised: the person the company relies on for what happens on site.
- A track record to point to: phase-gates (buyout, mechanical completion) hit on schedule, budget, and safety, and punch lists driven to clean, verified closeout.
- Measurable quality: high first-time inspection pass rate, minimal rework, and subcontractors performing to standard because the standard is enforced.
- The field function is documented and repeatable, so a junior superintendent could be onboarded against written standards rather than tribal knowledge.
- Feeding the preconstruction loop: constructability input and as-built cost feedback going back to estimating so future bids get sharper.
- Strong, durable relationships with subcontractors and client-side stakeholders across the active sites. ________________________________________ Required qualifications
- Demonstrated experience running a jobsite as the superintendent or lead field supervisor, with real ownership of a site and crew.
- Proven safety leadership, including firsthand experience stopping work or correcting hazards under pressure.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydronic, or geothermal installation, including proper install sequence before closing up or charging a loop.
- Practical command of OSHA construction safety fundamentals: fall-protection thresholds, trench and excavation protection, and lockout/tagout.
- Ability to direct and manage subcontracted crews directly, fairly, and effectively.
- Comfort with digital field tools (plans, markup, punch, daily reports) on phone and tablet.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable for a company-provided vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to out-of-state jobsites, roughly 35,000 business miles per year. Preferred qualifications
- Experience on data center, mission-critical, or industrial mechanical projects.
- Experience standing up field practices for a growing contractor.
- OSHA 30 (construction), first aid / CPR, or equivalent field safety certifications.
- Experience closing out projects to a clean, verified punch.
________________________________________ Physical demands and work environment The role is performed primarily on active construction jobsites and requires the ability to walk and stand on uneven ground for extended periods; climb ladders and stairs; work at heights and around excavations; and work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise. Must be able to lift and carry field equipment (up to approximately 50 pounds), wear required personal protective equipment, and safely operate a company-provided vehicle over long distances. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
