#LI-Skilled-01 Job Summary This position is located in McPherson, KS, a city known for its rich manufacturing heritage and community spirit. As a member of the McPherson-based team, you will contribute to our manufacturing excellence by transforming raw materials into precision-engineered components. Your primary responsibilities include setting up and operating specialized machinery with precision, tracking time accurately, requisitioning materials, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. You will report directly to the Production Supervisor and the Plant Manager. Responsibilities Set up machines and identify materials for job use. Complete material requisitions accurately. Produce components to quality standards using appropriate equipment. Enter time and labor reporting accurately on a daily basis. Handle materials, tools, and equipment manually or with a jib crane. Layout, cut, and fit parts for welding as required. Fabricate new metal components according to product data sheets and compliance standards. Develop innovative solutions while maintaining safety, stability, and security standards. Maintain tools and equipment to professional standards and keep the workstation clean and orderly. Coordinate workflow with team members and third-party agents. Maintain high-quality standards as determined by quality and engineering standards. Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems daily. Employ physical strength and endurance to complete machining tasks. Perform additional duties as necessary. General Duties Follow all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Fabricate small components. Complete production and quality assurance forms. Participate actively in team meetings and discussions. Interface with engineering to communicate information accurately. Participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required. Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements. Follow and maintain 5S activities. Read and comprehend procedures written in English. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience 3-5 years in a custom build shop preferred. Technical Skills Ability to read and understand blueprints. Ability to operate a computer for data input and reading. Ability to operate hand tools and read measuring devices. Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics to complete standard work. Behavioral Attributes Effective communication with team members and management. Accountability for results. Mechanical aptitude. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Physical Demands Ability to stand for approximately 10 hours per day. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Frequent standing and repetitive use of hands required. Occasional bending, climbing, reaching overhead, kneeling, and pushing/pulling required.
