Construction Project Manager, Gulf Coast Region

Job Description

What to Expect As a Construction Project Manager on Tesla's Industrial Construction team, you will own construction execution across some of the most ambitious materials refining and process plants being built in America. You will lead a discipline or process area from mobilization through mechanical completion and commissioning handover, with full accountability for schedule, budget, safety, and quality. Whether your background is civil, structural, mechanical, piping, fabrication, electrical, instrumentation, or process construction, you will drive field execution in a fast-paced, multi-contractor environment and collaborate cross-functionally with design, executive stakeholders, and process technology operations departments to deliver projects on schedule within budget. This is an assignment-based role, home-based in Houston TX; the role requires 80% site presence at the project being supported. The first assignment location is Corpus Christi, TX. What You'll Do Own construction execution for a discipline or process area from procurement strategy and contractor mobilization through installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning handover Drive schedule performance with urgency, removing your team's greatest obstacles in real time and holding contractors and yourself to an uncompromising standard of productivity, quality, and safety Manage area or discipline budget and cost performance, tracking earned value, administering change orders, and escalating variances with recovery plans already in hand Coordinate across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and process interfaces to resolve design-field conflicts and keep construction sequenced to commissioning needs Lead contractor and vendor performance through structured accountability, clear work packaging, and consistent field presence from first foundations and steel through final punch Maintain rigorous look-ahead planning with project controls and procurement, identifying long-lead risks and material gaps before they threaten the critical path, and act on them immediately Communicate status, risks, and critical path exposure clearly to program leadership and cross-functional partners, including engineering, procurement, quality, commissioning, and operations What You'll Bring 5+ years managing large-scale construction projects, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sector that were ground-up Proven ability to manage subcontractors, track cost and schedule performance, and drive multi-discipline field execution independently with minimal oversight Strong working knowledge of industrial construction methods across one or more core disciplines: civil/structural, mechanical/piping, electrical/instrumentation, or process equipment installation, and the ability to coordinate effectively across all multiple Engineering degree or equivalent technical experience preferred: civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical, or related discipline Exceptional communicator who can align design, procurement, field teams, and leadership around clear priorities and hard dates Relentless problem-solver who operates with extreme ownership and first principles Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Tesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
