A Construction Superintendent runs day-to-day operations on a construction site and controls the short-term schedule on the site. Also performs important quality control and coordinates subcontractors. Often works in cooperation with construction project manager.
Full-Time Position Summary Emmaty, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee federal construction projects at Fort Gregg-Adams Army Base (Fort Lee), Virginia . The Project Superintendent will be responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating subcontractors and multiple construction trades, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety and quality standards, preparing project documentation, and communicating with U.S. Army and other government representatives. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal, U.S. Army, Department of Defense (DoD), or similar government construction projects and a strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, concrete, demolition, and general construction . Safety is a critical responsibility of this position. The Superintendent will be expected to actively enforce OSHA standards, EM 385-1-1 requirements when applicable, project-specific safety plans, and U.S. Army installation safety requirements . Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee all daily construction and field activities. Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, labor, equipment, materials, deliveries, and project sequencing. Supervise multiple construction trades, including HVAC/mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, concrete, demolition, and general construction . Ensure all work is completed in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, approved submittals, applicable codes, and federal requirements. Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Site Safety personnel, subcontractors, and government representatives . Conduct daily site inspections and monitor project progress, workmanship, manpower, safety, and schedules. Prepare accurate and professional daily reports, progress reports, manpower reports, photographs, safety documentation, and other required project records . Review and understand construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, modifications, and scopes of work. Participate in government progress meetings, inspections, preparatory meetings, and project coordination meetings. Identify field issues and proactively coordinate solutions to minimize schedule delays and cost impacts. Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work is properly coordinated between trades. Assist with testing, inspections, punch lists, commissioning, project closeout, and final turnover. Maintain an organized, professional, and compliant jobsite. Safety & OSHA Compliance The Project Superintendent will be expected to maintain a strong safety-first environment and ensure compliance with all applicable federal and project-specific safety requirements.

Maintain and enforce applicable OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926) . Understand and enforce

requirements when applicable. Follow all Fort Gregg-Adams (Fort Lee), U.S. Army, and project-specific safety requirements . Conduct and/or participate in toolbox talks, pre-task planning, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) . Monitor and enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) . Enforce applicable requirements related to fall protection, ladders, scaffolding, electrical safety, excavation, confined spaces, lockout/tagout, equipment operation, and other construction hazards . Immediately identify and address unsafe conditions or work practices. Coordinate with the project's Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and other designated safety personnel. Ensure subcontractors understand and comply with applicable OSHA, federal, Army, and project-specific safety requirements. Maintain required safety documentation and support safety inspections. Promote a strong safety-first culture among employees, subcontractors, and vendors. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of construction experience , preferably as a Project Superintendent, Construction Superintendent, or in a comparable field leadership position. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Experience with U.S. Army, DoD, USACE, or other federal government construction projects strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades, particularly HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building construction . Strong understanding of OSHA construction safety standards and jobsite safety practices . Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, and scopes of work. Ability to effectively supervise and coordinate multiple subcontractors and construction trades simultaneously. Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare professional daily reports, progress reports, incident documentation, and government-required project documentation . Strong leadership, organization, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and construction/project documentation systems . Must be available to work full-time on site at Fort Gregg-Adams Army Base (Fort Lee), Virginia . Military Base Access Requirements Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) and legally authorized to work in the United States. Must have a clean background and be able to successfully pass all required background checks, identity verification, security screening, and installation access vetting . Must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to Fort Gregg-Adams Army Base (Fort Lee) and other U.S. military installations as required by assigned projects. Must possess valid government-issued identification and provide all documentation required for military base access. Continued employment on assigned federal projects is contingent upon maintaining eligibility for required U.S. military installation access . Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification . Experience working under

requirements. Previous Superintendent experience on U.S. Army, USACE, DoD, or other federal construction projects . Knowledge of federal construction Quality Control (QC) procedures and Three-Phase Control process . Experience with RMS/QCS or similar federal construction management systems . First Aid/CPR certification . Experience managing and coordinating multiple MEP and general construction trades . Familiarity with federal construction documentation, submittals, RFIs, inspections, and project closeout procedures. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a hands-on, safety-focused, and highly organized Project Superintendent who can independently manage field operations on an active U.S. Army installation. The successful candidate should be comfortable managing subcontractors across multiple construction trades, communicating professionally with government representatives, preparing detailed written reports, enforcing OSHA and federal safety requirements, resolving field issues, and maintaining project quality and schedule. The individual must be capable of representing Emmaty, Inc. professionally on a federal jobsite and ensuring that construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with contract and U.S. Army requirements .
