30-Hour Construction Construction quality control Construction documentation Senior level Construction quality assurance Progress tracking (project management tasks) Full Job Description Summary This Deputy Building Inspector role supports a large airport capital improvement program within the Greater Los Angeles County area. The position focuses on performing special inspections across multiple construction disciplines while ensuring contractor work complies with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. Inspectors in this role work closely with construction managers, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to monitor field activities, document project progress, and maintain quality assurance across complex infrastructure projects. This is a primarily field-based role ideal for experienced LADBS Deputy Inspectors who are comfortable working on active construction sites and coordinating with multiple project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform special inspections for structural systems including concrete construction, steel installation, drilled-in anchors/seismic components, and spray-applied fireproofing
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with building codes, engineering plans, and project specifications
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting construction activities, field conditions, and work progress
  • Track changes in construction scope and verify time-and-material work as needed
  • Measure and document installed quantities to support project documentation and contractor payment verification
  • Review construction documents including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and inspection reports
  • Coordinate with construction managers, contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to maintain project compliance and progress Qualifications
  • Valid LADBS Deputy Inspector licenses in the following disciplines:
  • Concrete Construction
  • Steel Construction
  • Drilled-in Anchors / Seismic Resistance
  • Spray-Applied Fireproofing
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector on large-scale construction projects
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and special inspection procedures
  • Experience preparing detailed field reports and maintaining accurate construction documentation
  • Familiarity with construction document review including RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Experience using project documentation software such as Bluebeam, Adobe Pro, or similar platforms Certifications & Training
  • Cal-OSHA 30 certification completed within the past four years
  • Fall protection and harness training preferred
  • Confined space entry training preferred Compensation & Benefits
