Full-Time Job Overview Stone & Lime Imports, Inc. is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Marine Construction Support Technician to assist with the historic restoration of the moat wall at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida . This is a hands-on field position supporting marine and waterside construction operations associated with the restoration project. The primary responsibilities will include turbidity curtain maintenance, dewatering operations, water management, pump and hose monitoring, and general marine/construction support . The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors and around water, pumps, hoses, construction equipment, and active restoration operations. Previous marine construction, dewatering, environmental, heavy civil, or similar field experience is preferred. Responsibilities Assist with the installation, inspection, adjustment, maintenance, and removal of turbidity curtains and related sediment-control measures. Routinely inspect turbidity curtains for proper positioning, anchoring, damage, gaps, or other conditions requiring correction. Assist with dewatering operations necessary to support moat wall restoration activities. Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain pumps, hoses, piping, filters, discharge lines, and other dewatering equipment. Monitor water levels and water conditions within active work areas. Identify clogged hoses, pump problems, leaks, damaged curtains, or other issues and promptly report or correct them as directed. Assist with moving, securing, and maintaining marine and dewatering equipment. Help maintain sediment and erosion-control measures surrounding the work area. Monitor dewatering and water-control systems throughout the workday to ensure equipment remains operational. Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of pumps, hoses, filters, and associated equipment. Assist crews with general marine construction and restoration support as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store equipment and materials. Follow project-specific environmental requirements, safety procedures, and direction from project supervision. Work closely with project superintendents, safety/quality personnel, restoration crews, and other project personnel. Immediately report equipment failures, environmental concerns, unsafe conditions, or changes in water conditions to project supervision. Perform other construction support duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience in marine construction, dewatering, pumping operations, environmental controls, heavy civil construction, waterfront construction, or a related field is preferred . Experience working with turbidity curtains, pumps, hoses, filtration systems, or dewatering equipment is a plus. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic pumps, hoses, connections, and related equipment is preferred. Comfortable working around water and in an active construction environment. Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, rain, and changing weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, pulling, and carrying equipment and materials. Ability to safely lift and carry approximately 50 pounds. Must be dependable and able to report to work consistently and on time. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a construction team. Strong awareness of jobsite safety and environmental protection requirements. OSHA 30 training and/or previous construction safety training Valid driver's license preferred.
Compensation Starting pay:
$28.00 per hour Compensation may be adjusted based on relevant marine construction, dewatering, pumping, or environmental-control experience. Project This position will support Stone & Lime Imports' historic restoration work at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine, Florida , with a primary focus on supporting the moat wall restoration and associated marine/water-control operations.
