Job Description

Town of Kearny, New Jersey The Town of Kearny is seeking a qualified and motivated Building Subcode Official / Building Inspector to join our Construction Department. Under the direction of the Construction Official, this position is responsible for administering and enforcing the Building Subcode of the New Jersey State Uniform Construction Code. The successful candidate will perform inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, applicable codes, and safety regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced code professional to contribute to the continued growth and development of a vibrant North Jersey community. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections, reviewing construction activities for code compliance, interpreting building regulations, maintaining accurate records, and working collaboratively with contractors, developers, property owners, and municipal staff.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid HHS Building Subcode Official License issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs along with a valid New Jersey Driver's License. Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
Starting Salary:
$87,394 annually
Schedule:
Full-Time, 35 hours per week
