Onsite / Field-Based Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Civil Inspector to support critical infrastructure projects involving wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) facilities throughout New York City. This position is responsible for providing full-time construction inspection services for NYCDEP wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects across multiple active project sites, including Brooklyn, Jamaica, Queens, and Owls Head/Rockaway WWRFs. The Civil Inspector will ensure that all construction activities comply with project specifications, contract requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical inspection experience related to wastewater treatment facilities, excellent documentation and reporting skills, and a solid understanding of construction inspection practices involving structural, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades. This role requires strong field presence, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, supervisors, engineers, and project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Construction Inspection & Field Oversight Perform full-time construction inspection services for: Wastewater treatment facilities Pump stations Combined Sewage Overflow (CSO) facilities Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with: Project specifications Contract documents NYCDEP standards Applicable codes and regulations Inspect construction work involving: Structural/general construction Plumbing and mechanical systems HVAC systems Electrical and instrumentation systems Verify contractor adherence to approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements Quality Control & Compliance Conduct continuous technical inspections to confirm proper quality control implementation Ensure contractors follow: Safety protocols Construction standards Quality assurance procedures Identify deficiencies, non-conformance issues, and construction concerns and report findings promptly Assist with resolving technical and construction-related issues in the field Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed daily field reports documenting: Construction progress Technical observations Inspection findings Safety concerns Perform field computations and measurements as required Collect and document: Initial project photographs Progress photographs Final completion photographs Maintain accurate project records and inspection documentation Project Inspections & Coordination Participate in substantial completion and final inspections with supervisors and project stakeholders Coordinate with: Engineers Contractors NYCDEP personnel Project management teams Support project closeout activities and punch list inspections Perform additional inspection-related duties as assigned by management Required Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering required Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience performing NYCDEP construction inspection work on: Wastewater treatment plants Wastewater treatment facilities Related municipal infrastructure projects Required Certifications & Training Candidates must possess the following certifications/training: OSHA Construction 30-Hour Certification Scaffolding User (4-Hour NYC Accredited Course) Confined Space Training (8-Hour Course) Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training (2-4 Hours) Fall Protection Training (4 Hours) Additional Requirements Valid driver's license required Reliable personal vehicle required for travel between project sites Ability to work across multiple NYC project locations Preferred Qualifications Experience working on NYCDEP infrastructure projects Strong understanding of wastewater treatment facility operations and construction practices Experience with municipal construction inspection and documentation procedures Familiarity with quality assurance and safety compliance standards Skills & Competencies Strong technical inspection and field observation skills Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents Strong communication and interpersonal skills Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to work independently in fast-paced field environments Strong organizational and time-management skills Work Environment Primarily field-based position across multiple active construction sites Exposure to: Wastewater treatment facilities Industrial construction environments Outdoor weather conditions Frequent walking, climbing, and field inspections required Travel between multiple NYC project sites required Compensation & Benefits Compensation Competitive hourly rate: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour , based on experience and qualifications Comprehensive Benefits Package We offer a robust employee benefits package, including: Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) with company contributions Paid Time Off (PTO) 100% company-paid: Life Insurance Short-Term Disability Insurance Optional voluntary benefits: Long-Term Disability Voluntary Life Insurance for employee/spouse/dependents Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options Why Join Us?
